    Hi,
I have received my 6 years worth of statements but do I claim for all of the above or just the excess overdraft fees? I have read the guide and I am unsure. The statements group these three together.
  • You can't claim back the interest you are charged on going overdrawn. If you are at all uncertain as to what terms your bank uses on statements please phone your bank to check.
  • I am also helping my son reclaim his bank charge's,what i need to know is he has 3 charge's of £35.00 each for misuse of card can he claim these charge's back.

A card misuse fee is when use use your card and there are not funds in your account to cover the transaction, either at an atm or in a shop. If the card is declined you shouldn't be charged, it is the transaction that puts you overdrawn that generates the charge.

The charge isn't listed on their rates and charges page for current accounts, so it may be worth trying to get it back. Unfortunately I can't find my terms and conditions booklet so can't check if it is in there.

This post covers Nationwide. If you are at all unsure about what your bank terms mean, please phone them to check.

You need to send a schedule of charges detailing each charge name, date and amount and then a total.

This link takes you to the post you need.
  • Hiya, does anyone know if we can request the charges for Guaranteed Card Payments i.e switch (charge of £35.00 per item)?

I have also been charged £5.00 for a "historic statement request" -the bank have already taken and cashed my cheque for £10.00 in December, is this not what the £10.00 is sent for? After sending the letter (Recorded Delivery) to chase up my statements as I didn't hear anything at all after the 40 days, my branch called me within 2 days saying that my statements had already been sent in December, but, I explained that I definately had not received anything from them and now I've been charged £5.00 on my account.

    Any advice please, ta.......

    Hi

I have been having some difficulties with Lloyds TSB 1999 - to present day!
I had some financial difficulties in 1999, wrote to my Bank Manager at that time to cease accuring interests on my accounts, until I can sort myself out- they failed to helped me and to date have to pay back £14,000.
I am paying back a nominal sum of £10 each month to a recovery centre, Wescot; I had also contacted the Ombudsman last year, they stated that they only deal in matters of maladministration and therefore could not assist me any further as they believe that there was no relevant mistake, undue delay or failure of the Bank's procedures.

Now having looked at my statements since 1999, I have noticed that I have been charged around £700 of interests and service charges - is this the same as a default charge and would I be able to claim some of this money back from lloyds TSB if I write to them with some of these standard letters?
  • IMO Interest and service charges are not the same as default charges which would show up on your statements as 'Unpaid cheque fee' or/and 'Excess fee'.
  • Pity - as I just finished working on my statements and I have noted that Unauthorised borrowing fees, unpaid item fees, Overdraft interests and other interest charged in all 4 accounts with Lloyds TSB amount to a staggering sum of £2445.54 (1999 - 2002). I take it I would not be able to claim this back then?
