Having calculated my paid refferal fees/unauthorised overdraft fees using Martins calculator, without interest BARCLAYS owe me £1150. With interest £1355.92, great!! However, a question has arisen which Im sure the answer will be on this forum somewhere: I have loads of INTEREST CHARGED amounts on my statements, from pittance to pounds. It doesnt actually state what INTEREST CHARGES they are. Can I claim these INTEREST CHARGED amounts back?? Thank You0

They will be interest charges for going overdrawn which you can't claim.0

No sorry this is a service charge and not a penalty.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
I am in the process of reclaiming my bank charges for an account I closed at the beginning of 2006.
Going through the statements I requested from the bank, I quickly realised I was going to have a large amount of charges to claim back. I just can't believe how much I have been charge over those 6 years! it's a lot more than I've seen on any of the posts I've read on this board.
Has anybody reclaimed a very large amount before and what happened? I keep looking at my calculations (have done them 3 times lol) and think that it's such a huge amount the bank will never pay it back!!
Also, I am reclaiming all my unpaid DD, SO and unauth O/D but can I reclaim "cleared transaction" when the bank has charged me for honouring a payment when I was over my O/D limit. (These charges range from £10 in 2001 to £30 in 2005)LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012

Hi, I have taken the first step in recaliming the bank charges by writing to my bank HSBC for statements, to which they have replyed returning my £10, and said they will arrive in batch's. But could i just clarify, i am to add up all the charges applied by the back, but am i to also add up the interest charged by them for using my overdraft, its unclear in the statements as it just says Charges, and they are strange amounts so i cant work out whether they are a standard charge or an interest amount. Ive asked HSBC and they said they only hold records in the shape of statements and cant break down the charges. HELP! 0 -
No you can't reclaim interest charged for using your overdraft, that's a legitimate charge.
Check post #4 of this thread to find out what you CAN claim back:
