Burger King microwave the burgers now?!

In my youth it was a rare treat to eat at Burger King. The food had a great taste. But a few months ago when I ordered a burger from there, I watched with disgust as the 'chef' (term used very loosely), with no gloves on, picked up seperate components of the burger and microwaved them, then put it in a bag with a few chips and presented it to me. Being British and therefore willing to put up with anything (why can't we be more like the Americans?), I accepted it and took it home. My question is, when the hell did they start microwaving the burgers? And what was with the moron who didn't even use gloves? I haven't been back since and don't plan to. The reason I'm banging on about it now is that I saw a Burger King advert recently which, if believed, would make you think that trained chefs carefully flame-grill the beef instead of the harsh reality of some spotty yoof chucking it into the microwave for a few seconds.
Now, I would say avoid Burger King, but I don't know if the practice of microwaving is carried out at all of their stores, so I'm unwilling to give a blanket Avoid. If your local store flame-grills the patties then go ahead and eat there, but if you see them reach for the microwave then just walk out and go somewhere else as the food tastes like crap when they do that!

I'm pretty sure they've always done it. They usually hide it though. I worked there in 1995 and we used to have to keep certain burgers warm in a steamer and then microwave them at the end... (they'd only sit around for a maximum of 10 minutes). I always go for a bean burger or a chicken royale as we had to make them fresh..._____________________________________________

It's really nothing new...Perhaps you just didn't notice as a youth0

In that case, I find it pretty annoying how they're allowed to maintain this "our burgers are flame-grilled" image when really they're microwaved. How do companies keep getting away with this? Even Subway's 'eat fresh' slogan is all lies. Have just read online that the meat is brought in frozen and then defrosted. Maybe these companies send a few quid to the advertising watchdogs to shut them up and allow the companies to continue perpetuating lies about the quality of their food.0

They are flame grilled. but on busy days they have to cook loads at once and keep them warm, otherwise they'd take forever..._____________________________________________

As mentioned int he previous post. They have been flame grilled first, but are then kept warm. How else would you expect food to be ready within a minute unless previously cooked. The microwave would ony be used to reheat if they had not sold enough previously.
I had the joys of working in a burgerking when I was 18 (dreamed of McDonalds - they had a staffroom with a PS2 we had a broken chair and a table) and to be fair to them the restaurant I worked in seemed to have a really good system of estimating the number of customers they would get in at any time e.g. had to take into factors: promotions taking place both nationally and locally, any other events, time of day, particular day, school holidays etc.
This meant that most burgers would be cooked and sent out almost straight away and would not be left to go cold etc.0 -

You are just simply wrong. All the burgers are flame-grilled then are brought to proper temp in the microwave as the last stage of preparing. It's been this way for the last 20 years at least (since I started eating there occasionally).
As for Subway, how would you like meat transported around the country ? Would you like each branch to have its own abbatoir to kill the meat while you watch ?
Your arguments are plain ridiculous0 -

Not really making any arguments, I'm just saying that companies like Subway which have slogans like "eat fresh" but then bring in frozen meat are lying to the public. How is that 'fresh'? It's defrosted. You point out that the meat cannot be transported around the country unless it's frozen. Then Subway shouldn't have "eat fresh" as their slogan.
Similar with Burger King, they tell you nothing about microwaving the burgers. The adverts all show the burgers being roasted on a flame, with the next scene being the meal being served to the customer. This gives the impression that flame-grilling is the final process the burger goes through before being served to you - not that it then endures being chucked into a microwave by some spotty idiot. That's deceptive, IMO.0 -
Burger King is disgusting, I would never eat one of their burgers as they are greasy and vile. I used to like the beanburgers but I don't think they do them anymore.0

This is why I prefer MaccyD's......and the BK burgers LOOK microwaved cos of how the bun goes. MY top tip for anywhere is to order it so something is changed (addition/subtraction) then it's pretty much guaranteed fresh - although it is funny asking for a burger completely plain with no bun and then looking at you funny (Gluten intolerant but I like the occasional cooked quarter pounder patty)** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **
**SPC 2012 #1498 -£152 and 1499 ***
I do it all because I'm scared.
