Thanks for the update Tropez and sorry that your OH has inevitably been upset by this situation. It will be interesting to see what happens next; to my mind if this person is decent and genuine they will be insisting they pay every penny towards repairing your car; no ifs, no buts.

Send her the repair bill with a copy of the footage and a picture of the damage she caused.

OK she's hardly likely to pay up but it might make her feel a bit awkward about cadging a ilft next time she takes your partner out to get bladdered.;)

I'll bet your partner is hoping her friend does the decent thing( even only because she has been caught). I would feel sick if a friend did the same to my OH's car.

Next time she is round, put laxatives in her drink.

Make a stake pie for dinner and fill hers with dog food.

Slip her a note without your partner knowing, which says "I know what you did!" then keep smirking at her on the sly.

Then go to a garage, get an estimate for repairs, send her a bill along with a copy of the CCTV.

Your partner would never have to know and revenge is sweet, or in her case dog food a sore butt and a nice bill for repairs.
  • Oooooo foxwales, harsh!! It makes me chuckle, but I'd also be a bit wary about having you as a friend in case I did anything to unwittingly p@@@ you off!:rotfl:

OP, you sound lovely. Your OH is very lucky to have you (and the same can probably be said the other way around, for you to act so considerately to spare negative feelings...) It's nice to read a thread on the relationships board where a couple actual take good care of each other! Well done, & I hope you both get some recompense / apology from the friend.

You can buy those in supermarkets. Fray Bentos make them.

Well at least your gf knows now and she isn't mad at you, which was the whole point.

Leave it to her and her bf, although feathers may fly and bf may end up being ex bf if she doesn't come good.

Did the friend know there was CCTV?

I find it shocking that someone can knowingly cause (accidental) damage to someone's car, and not even apologise! The first thing I would have done would be to apologise and offer to get it repaired at my expense.

I am always very careful when opening my car door, but knowing that others aren't, I always park next to the most expensive looking (but not company) car, in hope that the driver will also take care! And I always avoid parking next to any car that has evidence of children on board!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

By the way you've handled this, I think you've come out of this with some serious brownie points.

I'm sure your partner is pleased about you not 'going off one one' about her friend's (who really deserves it) underhand actions.

Maybe your partner will take a long, hard look at this friendship after this.

I've only just come across this but before you told your partner I was going to say you should give her some credit for having similar ethics to yourself. Believe it or not, we are aware of the faults of our closest friends, just as we are those of our partners.
