Hi everyone! I used to read this thread when I was on the site illegally before actually being engaged, and couldn't wait to join it when I got engaged...but then it must have slipped down the boards and I forgot about it, just came across it whilst looking for something else!

So how are all the teachers and TAs doing with wedding planning and, presumably, planning to go back this week? :( I'm petrified as I've been off sick since the middle of January and they are finally letting me go back...which I am pleased about, but my Year 11s are going to eat me alive :(

I just read back and realised that most of the people originally on this thread got married last year - perhaps that's why it sort of died a natural death! Anyone still here? :)

    I'll kick us off...

I've just found this thread and I'm a newbie to this this week :) I'm a TA in a primary school, working with year 5 and 6, after graduating with a BA in Education and wanted to get some more experience before deciding which teaching path to take... We planned our wedding before getting my job and so doesn't fit very well... 8th September, the first weekend of the new school year! Oops! But they are all being very supportive and are not fussed about the date. Think the kids are nearly as excited as me, they seem to know more details about it than close family!

Yay congratulations Katie! :) I got engaged while off sick so none of the kids I teach know about it. I think my form will be really excited. I would have thought my Y11s would be, as they kept urging me to get engaged before they left the school so they could come and read love poetry at my wedding (!!!) but now I think they hate me due to being off so long so they may not be so excited anymore :(

I'm sure that wont't be the case! They will probably be so excited to see you back and when you tell them I reckon they will be very excited! Hope it goes well :)

I'm still here - Although not technically a teacher yet - I am in the final throws of my PGCE to be a Secondary English teacher and since I started this second placement all wedding plans have gone out the window!

I'm dreading going back as already feel completely snowed under and my tutor is coming on Wednesday to observe me. Why do the holidays have to go so fast!

Daisie I'm sure your y11s will be sooooo glad to see you and hear about your engagement!

myconosray, they really won't! :( nevermind lol! And they're my first lesson. Still, they will be gone in 6 weeks so it could be worse. It's a shame as I loved them and they were my favourite class in Year 10 but the relationship has been ruined by me being off sick :(

Eek I don't envy you, I'm glad my PGCE is well and truly over. I can't imagine having been wedding planning whilst on it! But two years ago I was where you are now so please do PM me if you need any advice/to steal any resources or anything! You're on the home stretch now though :) I'm sure your observation will go well, what year group is it with? Don't worry, teaching won't always be like this - there will come a time when you are no longer forced to write an extensive plan for every single lesson and then it suddenly all seems much more manageable! but as I said do PM me if I can do anything, I had lots of helpful people when on my PGCE so I feel I owe it to karma to spread the love!

    Hi,

I hope you don't mind me lurking on here as I'm not a teacher!

I'm a Brownie leader at a local unit and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for any crafty type things the kids could make that I could display at the wedding? They all keep asking me when they can start making things- if it was down to them they'd have made all the invitations/namecards etc for me! A couple even offered to make a dress for me ha!

The unit is in Bristol and my wedding in Northumberland so they can't be involved directly on the day (plus they're all off at camp that weeked which im sure is much more appealing to them), but I thought it would be a nice touch to try and include them in the preparations. If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated as i'm really struggling at the moment!

    Hello

If you trust their baking skills you could let them do some chocolate brownies for your guests? I'll keep thinking!

I'm still here! :) Haven't posted much for a while as I've been busy - particularly this week as it's been my hen week :D

I keep thinking 7 weeks today and I'll be at the hotel ready for the wedding the next day.

I so don't want to go back to work :( I want to stay off for 7 weeks until the wedding! Haha!
Planned our wedding, still planning lessons
