Just to chip in and add to what CK said about SMEG.

Yes, they are an Italian company, BUT they no longer manufacture in Italy, everything is produced in Turkey now.

Interesting, where do Bosch manufacture dishwashers?

Our SMEG was terrible. Looked great, but didnt wash very well, door seal went within a year, circuit board went wthin 3 years.

Now have a Mielle which has a ten year guarantee, but so far, 3years in, hasnt missed a beat.

Thanks, another vote for Bosch, do all Miele dishwashers come with ten years parts n labour?
The option to upgrade to five years parts n labour is one of the things that attracted me to Bosch, but is there a call out charge?
    Anyone know?

    Hi

Actually Miele dishwashers have never come with a 10 year warranty, from time to time they have a promotion where you will get 5 years warranty as standard but to be honest with a Miele dishwasher its virtually un-necessary.

Miele have only ever used the 10 year warranty promotion on washing machines to show the confidence they have in their products, as washers are known to be the most unreliable appliance in the kitchen.

They make them in their custom made dishwasher factory in Dillengen, Germany.

Siemens dishwashers are made in the same factory.

Comet salesman told me today, some are made in Spain, and they charge £90 for call out if you extend warranty to five years?

Absolute tosh! All Bosch and Siemens (And Neff and Gaggenau for that matter) are made in Germany.

As for the call out, as far as I am aware the following applies:
Five reasons to take out the Bosch Repair Plan
    • No breakdown repair bills if we send you an engineer
    • Call outs can be authorised for damage caused by accidents
    • A brand new appliance if we replace yours
    • A 24 hour customer service helpline
    • Repairs by Appliance Care, Bosch's official service network
I believe the £90 call out is only applied if one of the following applies:
    Guarantee exclusions
    • Damage resulting from transportation, improper use or neglect, the replacement of any light bulbs or removable parts of glass and plastic.
    • Costs incurred for calls to put right an appliance, which is improperly installed, or calls to appliances outside the United Kingdom, or the Republic of Ireland.
    • Products of Bosch manufacture which are not marketed by Bosch.
    • EC Countries - the standard guarantee is applicable but is subject to the owner's responsibility and cost, to ensure the appliances meets the standards set by the country to which the product is taken.
  • Cyco, thanks for that, interesting,
When he said that, I didn't think tosh,
It was a longer word beginning with a capital B and ending in ks!
Will try to get Bosch to confirm all possible charges,
Think John Lewis are doing a similar thing on Bosch dishwashers as well, with a different company than Dom Gen that Bosch use.

Bosch, Siemens & Neff (and quite a few more) are all brands owned by the same company.
