I knew I'd written about this years ago, there was a big thing about it in the trade at the time, this was the last bit of info. Basically Lux closed the German AEG Nuremberg plant and moved the production.

As for moving back to Germany, they shut that plant years ago and sold it so I don't know how Lux could move back there.
Well, I must admit, I was a bit shocked when I first heard about it at the range launch event. I'll do some digging on Monday, so watch this space
I wasn't aware of much production at all in Germany these days, even BSH only produce a handful of lines there now most of them come from the Balay plant in Spain, I think some in Portugal, Poland and China.
Only their small appliances (kettles etc) are made in the Balay plant.
The products made in China are for the Asian market only and are made to different specification (even though some parts are still shipped in from Germany)
As far as I am aware, the sites in Portugal and Poland are assembly plants only. Although they are looking at shipping some of the production to Poland soon.
Recently their washing machine factory in Nauen won "Factory of the year" They also have factories in Dillingen, Traunreut, Bretten, Giengen and Berlin.0 -
Methinks there's some confusion.

Here's the potted history of BSH
So far as I am aware there's not too much now being produced on German soil. A few of the top end washers, some cooking and that's about it from what I'm told.
Dishwashers should be from Lodz, Poland.
BSH are a global brand and make stuff all over the place though and the only way to tell if it came from actual German stock used to be it was clearly marked as being "Made In Germany". What the guys have been complaining about is most of it now says "Made In EU" or similar and it isn't actually German as alluded to.
It is pretty common knowledge that the low cost washers were being made in the Balay plant and that was part of the reason that BSH bought Balay as well as to enlarge their presence in the local Spanish market.
The Spaniards seem a bit like us, stuck on the old names at times, like most people still thinking that Hoover and Hotpoint are British companies.

We have a Beko DWD4311S
I would post a link but I am not allowed yet
Works fine and the Mrs likes it
and it is about the quietest one you can get.
Have not bothered with any extended guarantees either0 -
I agree, there is some confusion:Our dishwashers are manufactured in the world’s largest dishwasher factory in Dillingen, Germany, which each year produces over two and a half million dishwashers, or approximately 11,000 units a day!
http://www.bosch.com.au/content/language1/html/715_3452.htmAs a leading manufacturer of dishwashers in Europe, BSH produces over four million appliances annually at five European sites and one in North America. Central among these is the plant in Dillingen, which among other things houses the worldwide development center, where more than 200 developers work on new technologies to make life easier.

Approx 1.5 million dishwashers are made outside of Germany, split between 5 other sites. Which I am lead to believe are mainly lower spec products for other markets.
And as for the other products:
Refidgeration:

Washing machines:

Ovens, hobs etc:

More ovens, hobs and even cooker hoods:

BSH do make countless appliances appliances in other countries, but it doesn't mean they are Bosch or Siemens branded.
The Polish plant mainly makes items for Western or Northern Europe and some items for Eastern Europe.0 -
Interesting. If you trawl through the other sites apparently they don't make anything or BSH don't make a big deal out it as they do with the German sites.
Anyone would be led to believe that everything was made in Germany which, I suppose is the point.

I've had my Bosch for over 3 years, and it has always run perfectly without problems, so would recommend. Currently gathering dust at the mo, as nowhere to put it in my new place, grrr!

This was just about the main buying criteria when we last bought a dishwasher - with an open plan kitchen/family room the original Zanussi supplied by the house builder was just a tad too noisy. When it died after 4 or 5 years we replaced it with a Miele G1470 that was listed as 46dBm - just about the quietest we could find at the time without paying four figures for the top of the range Miele which was 42dBm IIRC.
Our old Zanussi was 50dBm and the difference was huge; 4dB might not sound (ho ho) like much but it's a logarithmic scale so it represents a big difference in how loud it really is.0 -
Cyco, thanks for all that info, you are a mine of it, be nice to know how you tell all the info of your machine from it's serial number?
e-mailed John Lewis yesterday, asking about their service plan extending the warranty to five years, asking if it covered call out as well,
got a reply today, Sunday!
Thank you for your enquiry.
!
I can advise that the John Lewis Service Plan fully covers parts and labour, including call out costs. In the event of the machine failing, our Technical Support should be contacted on 0844 871 7771. At the point of contact, they would ascertain as to whether a!visit would be appropriate.
!
If you wish to place an order or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me on the number stated below.

Kind regards

Excellent Service, although not the cheapest, seems good to deal with.0
