Dishwasher Recommendation Please?

e-mailed Bosch as well yesterday, asking the same, awaiting reply.0

What info do you need to know from the serial number?0

I've had my Bosch for over 3 years, and it has always run perfectly without problems, so would recommend. Currently gathering dust at the mo, as nowhere to put it in my new place, grrr!

Good to know newer models are still as reliable, meaning cost cutting has not reduced reliability and quality.0 -
Does anyone have a shallower model? I want a 60cm wide machine but one that has a shallower depth to it so that I can simply remove the base of the kitchen carcass and plinth but leave the door on - it will make things look neater with a free standing machine.
Or what about a built-in one?? If I remove the base/shelf in the carcass but left in the plinth, could I get a built-in one do you think? I could then take the hinges off the door and attach them to the built-in model. Or do I have to have a specific carcass to do all this?0 -

Oh right, thought you wanted some specific info.
Well, I know for sure most manufacturers can tell the model number, the date it was manufactured and the date it left the factory.
Some manufacturers can even tell who was involved in production and even the vehicles it was shipped on! (Neff for one, can find out virtually everything about the appliance, including when all the components inside the appliance were manufactured and whether that appliances was one of the tested ones in the batch)0 -

There doesn't tend to be many shallower models in the UK, even though they are quite popular in Asia and some parts of Eastern Europe.
The good news is that as long as you have a 600mm cabinet you can remove, an integrated appliance will work fine. Simply take the cabinet and plinth out. Fit the appliance in and then re-fit the plinth (Depending on the model, the plinth may need trimming, height-wise, to allow the door to open properly). You then take the door off the appliance and fit it to the appliance (minus the hinges)

We have an integrated Siemens basic model which has the kitchen cupboard door fitted
About 18mth old now, cleans and runs quietly. Only cost about £400 at time although VAT increase probably won't have helped
Also watch out for 5 year parts and labour warranties at certain times on certain models
We now have Siemens F/F and a washing machine - all built very well and "feel" nice if you know what I mean
There was also a noticeable quality-feel difference between the base models from Bosch and Siemens0 -

Siemens free 5 year guarantee is running at the moment see here. This offer is not always mentioned by internet sellers but is valid wherever you buy. There is a list of machines covered in the drop down.
We were happy with the performance and reliability etc so have just replaced an approx 10 year old Siemens dishwasher with the equivalent new model.
It ran perfectly for all its life but broke down just after our new kitchen was installed. A good excuse to get a nice stainless steel one to match the cooker.
