  • Right, that's all really helpful, thanks everyone. They said they used info from:

    Your claim forum
The extra information you gave us
    Your GP dated 03/2011
The health care professional who examined you (he came because he said GP didn't go into enough detail)

So reconsideration first then, I'll phone them later and lodge that, or does it have to be in writing? Which would be best? And that will restart the one month clock for appeal again if they won't change the verdict? (sorry for all the questions!)

Teabag29 - it took from mid February, so about 7 weeks, but only 2 weeks after they sent the doctor out to grill me, which I was dreading, - I get awfully flustered - with good cause it seems :( Hope yours goes better x

When you rng for your reconsideration (phone call is fine) ask for a copy of that report from their doctor. Could make for interesting reading and be the real reason they turned you down.

That's why this place is here, to ask questions after all.

    Personal experience is

Phone them, be polite (Helps to get the advisor to be helpful, rather than giving them grief) They will go through your options, and if you want a reconsideration, they will ask you to verbally tell them why you disagree with their initial decision.

That was all I did, I entered no written evidence, as they are after all reconsidering your initial claim.

When and only if they uphold their initial decision, you will have another letter informing you of the fact, and then you have 30 days (Or whatever the time limit is) to lodge an appeal

Oh my goodness you shouldnt jump to conclusions, my dd condition is far more complexed but i was trying to explain that all the school see is shop lifting and truancy. Her father has borderline personality disorder and my mother was skitzophrenic. My dd has serious behavioural probs. She jumps out of windows, runs into main roads, urinates and soils herself on purpose, talks to herself, hears voices, has a very vicious side, cannot get on with other children, constantly steals, has no differentiation of reality and fiction, her hygiene is beyond poor....I could go on. She is certainly no normal teen (she is only 12 btw)

I totally agree with your sentiment pwales. Sounds like "dd" needs a kick up the backside and it sounds like a parenting issue to. Shoplifting being blamed on being disabled. I have heard of some excuses, please......

My dd is not doing these things to get attention or because she is bad she doesnt even know she has done it half the time or why people are annoyed with her. She hears voices and talks to ppl that aren't there. There is mental health in the family and she has been referred to camhs.
