sunflower growing competition

Gardeners World recommends this for buttercup:
 Organic:
The most effective organic approach is to dig out the plant wherever it appears using a fork or trowel. Mulching deeply is ideal for smothering the weed. In lawns, in the worst case scenario, lift the turf and replace it.
 Chemical:
In lawns, you can get rid of the weed using a lawn weedkiller, such as a 2, 4-D-based herbicide. Apply it in cool, moist and calm weather when there's least risk of accidentally spraying nearby garden plants.Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death.

Suggestions on a post card please.
I've been trying to get rid of it for nearly 20 years, best I've done is keep it in check
I now have over 60 sunflower seedlings of 4 types, some of them must get passed the slugs and snails, managed to get 4 last year out of 25:(0

I'd like to join the competition as well if thats OK!
I adore sunflowers in the Summer, pulling in bees from all over the place, amazing growth in just one season from such a tiny seed.0

Oh no we have just been outside and something has eaten some of the sunflowers !! Thing is it doesn't look like slug/snail damage, there are no trails and they were not on the floor, plus other seedings next door are untouched. Eldest DD wonders if rabbits have eaten them?? They have now replanted the ones lost but any ideas how to prevent this again?? Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death. !! It will be an abseiling slug or snail, they live in my garden too:mad: trained by MI6 to get in and out undetected and leave no sign of having been there.
Check the soil it's in, they hide underground.
Do what I do and sow dozens, some will make it through:D0

I only planted 3 seeds but so far 2 of them are doing really well The first withered to nothing but I am really pleased with the survivors. One is the ground and one in a pot, each about 4 inches The first withered to nothing but I am really pleased with the survivors. One is the ground and one in a pot, each about 4 inches :A :A

I love the idea of the abseiling slugs was wondering if they paracute actually cos there are no walls here!!! They were actually in pots in fresh compost and have looked in compost but nothing there. Unfortunately sowing dozens is not really an option cos we just sowed a few random seeds we could find lying around in packets we already had.Courage is the art of being the only one who knows you're scared to death.
