Hi. I have more sunflower seedlings than I can use. Anyone wanting to collect one or two from postcode N2 please pm me.

BTW, this is my first year growing anything, so some help needed please. I have several seedlings growing in each pot. Should I just snuff out the weaker ones, or should I try transplanting them at this stage - about 3 inches high, but very straggly?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I noticed hugely tall sunflowers in a shady front garden in a local town last summer.

Right I've got two in the ground today in a shady spot and two to go in a pot. Let the experiment commence!

    ROFL.

I stalked around my garden today looking for an appropriate spot in full sun and there simply isn't one. TBH there isn't an appropriate spot. I've put some where they will get morning and noon sun but not evening sun, and some are going to have to go in for noon sun only. Until they are tall, hen they'll get sun from the other side of the wall. If they make it.:D

Sorry if this has been asked before but i planted some seedlings and they have grown a few inches now. Trouble is,some are steadily pointing skyward whereas many of them seem to be on acid as they are twisting and curling in every direction but up..!

    What can i do?
    ta
EDIT..i have now found the cause of the wayward seedlings.

I had some striahgt ones which we planted in yoghurt pots.

The curly ones were planted in a propagator.

I handnt realised how much root the tiny sunflower seedlings were putting down.

The yog pot seedlings had room to grow downward whereas the much shallower propagator ones didnt have very much downward root growth room.

All have now been planted out in pots and doing well.

Pots are essential if you have slug/snail problems as otherwise, they are likely to be chomped !
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Well the ones the children planted on Saturday almost all germinated withing 24h so now have at least 8, am waiting to see if the multi headed red things do tho because the seed packet was ancient (probably older than the kids!) and I don't know how well sunflower seeds keep.

After much umming and ahhing I've had to settle for a spot in a mainly east facing border with some south sun. Hopefully that will be ok :(

    We have life.

Now it's finally stopped raining up in Dundee, I've just nipped out to the plastic greenhouse thingy to check on my babies. The ones in the propagator thingy - no life.

The ones shoved in the pot, there is life from one of them, possibly two. So keep your fingers crossed I don't kill them. Now do I need to water the or will they be ok just now in the pot with the moisture from the greenhouse just now until they get a bit bigger?

PS there is a buttercup (evil weed but pretty flowers), sneaking out from under my raised bed, now I don't want it there or at all, how can I get rid of it?

Suggestions on a post card please.
