Lily-flame candles are supposed to be good too but havent tried these, you can get them in John Lewis as well.

I like Yankee candles as they seem to last a long time and so does the smell

  • I find M&S the best. I once bought a Christmas candle and the scent lasted all year. I *think* they're £5 a pop but not sure.

Inspired by this thread I bought three different Yankee sample candles today I have the Mackintosh burning now and I love the smell. Before I invest further ( and I will be investing further - who says this is a moneysaving site;) ! ), could anyone who has tried both methods tell me which is better for a strong long lasting fragrance - my rooms have high ceilings and it seems to take a lot to scent the place - should I buy the oil burner and the wax tarts or the candles in the jars? Thanks.

  • yankee candles are my favorites and I serached the net and managed to find a 3 for 2 offer so I`m well stocked up for this winter. You can also find them from time to time in tk

There is a bit of a good buy on here

I use this lid with the jars

I have one called sugar and spice in a big jar and the scent is so strong that I can only keep it on for so long but the scent hangs around the house for days if the glass lid is kept off the candle. It`s a lovely smell and everyone who comes here thinks that I have been baking nice things

I have high ceilings too, both work just as well but you get 160 hours burning time out of a large jar candle whereas only 8 hours from a candle tart. I do think the tarts are stronger smelling maybe. I would get some tarts to find out which fragrances you like then get the jars, they also do car air fresheners.

we`ve got very high ceilings by the way. My dh couldn`t tolerate the strong smell from the yankee tarts

You can also get them at garden centres with gift shops and Wyevale garden centres sell them. T K Maxx have lots of them, £10 for the large jar, but only certain fragrances.

I think Yankee candles are the best. They might seem more expensive, but the smell lasts all through the candle and they also last a long time if you get one of the larger ones.I buy mine from
