I like the M+S ones here:

Similar to the Diptyque style and the scent lasts for ages. My favourite one is not shown here - I think it's lemongrass and ginger, or a similar citrus fragrance0 -
For anyone who likes the scented candles from M&S, they are currently doing an offer that gets you 20% off all homeware so for their candles that are normally priced at £5, you pay £4. The ones that are £7, now cost £5.60. The tall pillar type ones that have up to 80 hours burning time usually cost £12, they currently cost £9.60!
There are packs of scented tea lights for £3.50 and also smaller candles so you pay £2.80.

I decided I would look for some nice scented candles. I looked at the Jo Malone site, I've heard she does fab candles. The 200g candles in a glass are £38! HOW MUCH!
Most of the scented candles I come across are truly gross. I want something light and 'clean'.
Anyone have any ideas?0 -
Hi
I read a thread the other day about 'the good fairy' candle shop online - if you type candle into forum seach it comes up - sorry don't know how to add link to this yet as i am a newbie.
I haven't brought myself yet, but have added to my favourites ready for pressies later in the year.
Hope this helps0 -
You could try using cheaper candles (I use the household ones - you know, the ones for power cuts!) and rubbing them with a few drops of essential oil. I usually use lavender, but I'm sure it would be lovely with lime or orange oils.

You must look at thegoodfairy.co.uk
Thread is always on the first page of the special occasions forum. A lady working from home making the most unique and best smelling candles0 -
I know what you mean about some candles...they can have a very sickly artificial smell.
We use a little essential oil burner, the sort that has a tea-light underneath. just put a few drops of your favourite oil in a little water.weaving through the chaos...0 -
Thanks everyone - I'll let you know how I get on. :T0

Yankee candles are the best I've found (I have a candle habit!) They're the only ones that give off a nice but strong smell IMO.
They're not *that* cheap, but if you become a member of the just-candles site (not sure if I'm allowed to post a link, sorry) you get 5% off all purchases. It costs around £6 to become a member, but you get a welcome pack with candles, air freshners etc in.
The wax tarts are the best buys at about 95p each. They smell stronger than the jars too! Not sure how that is possible, mind!
hthBeen comping since January '08. Wins so far....NOTHING!:rotfl:*UPDATE* June - won a Bratz doll for my little girl0
