Is there no way you could work in the evenings or weekend when your OH could do some childcare?0

The benefit system is there to help! I have contributed and am asking for temporary help!
I am not resigning to sit at home and watch day time tv!!
Being a mum is a 24 hours job and i have respect for mums who manage to work full time!
I should not be judged by wanting to watch my child grow up!!
This is deeply offensive. Many of us give up our free time to come to this site purely to help others, we have a wealth of knowledge between us and we get nothing for sharing it. Pure altruism.
Also, the benefit system is a safety net, not a tool with which one may make a lifestyle choice0 -
i disagree with you edit, the benefit system is there to help everyone, from newborn baby, to oap and everyone inbetween no matter what they chose to do.
the fact is i couldn't possibly get a job that could work around my kids nursery hours and be flexiable enough for my various appointments i need to attend with them, and would pay enough to pay for childcare for my youngest, i'd love a job for some freedom (that is something you should remeber op it gets boring and depressing doing the same thing all the time) however my hubby does alot of extra work after he finished his 9-5 (don't worry it's all declared) so i need to be here incase he needs to go
good luck op in whatever you decide to JO and remeber aslong as theres food on the table, a roof over there heads and clothes on there backs all your child needs is your love and some imagination
Unless you live in a bubble, you will know that the country is in a mess. The govt are trying to force seriously disabled people to work, yet you think someone who is perfectly capable of working should be supported to stay at home? That is a very selfish viewpoint.Gone ... or have I?0 -
I have considered all the above. My work place wont let me work any less than what I do now. I work 3 days a week. I have continuously looked for other part time or evening work but nothing is out there.
I have considered all options.0 -
you would be entitled to... child benefit, tax credits... and housing benefit.
to be honest you would be better working part-time. i gave up work when my daughter was 8 months old as i wanted to stay at home (at the time we could manage on a single wage with no help) since my husband had his hours cut ive gone back to work but i only work 12 hours a week... i can still pay my bills and i see my daughter (who is 2) and my husband loads... best of both worlds
TADA! you would be better off just cutting your hours downMAY FREEBIESFree Jar of Sharwoods Sauce.£10 Argos gift card. Picture Hanging Strips. Fairy WUL. Live Mealworms. Hipp Preggy bits. Perfume. Lipton Tea x3. Pack of snack a jacks. Genome fridge magnets. Fuel Rights Book.0 -
Sweetie_Jo I dont think anyone is trying to have a go at you however as people have said look around the country is a financial mess. Also with hard working people seeing benefits getting dolled out left right and centre I think people can become a tad cynical, at the end of the day these people are giving you advice and their personal opinion [which they are entitled to]
Only you know what is best however I do have to agree that maybe thinking this through before you had children would have been a better solution ?0 -
I do not work loacal to where I live. Cutting my hours isn't worth the travelling I do and the amount I have to pay to travel.0

no i think people who are perfectly capable and who's curcimstances allow should work, however this is not so in my case and is only a short term measure, like op i worked fulltime from i was 17 and i paid my way and i will do again in the not too distant future, why should i feel bad for cliaming alittle bit of that back? the answer is i shouldn't, just like i don't feel bad if i need medicial treatment ect thast what i paid taxs for and what my hubby pays taxs for and what i will pay taxs for againDEC GC £463.67/£450

Can I ask how old the little one is?If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in0

You can not think about these kinds of situations before you have a child!
Peoples circumstances change daily. When I returned to work, I was under the impression that my childs grandparents would look after her but due to a change in circumstances they can no longer do this. Hence why I didn't think/ budget for childcare!0
