Thanks. I did select the option of not wanting a cash card. My account is showing as "Halifax Websaver Variable" though, so I am not convinced it's set up as "Reward Websaver".
It should default to Web Saver Reward then.
Don't get me started on their hideously expensive 0845 helpdesk numbers! I'm trying to save money, not spend it.
A lot of landline and mobile phone packages include these calls as part of their package now. Check yours out.

If not, it's a few pence a minute for 0845 from a BT landline. Still a cost, but not "hideously expensive".

Finally, www.saynoto0870.com sounds like something you will benefit from.
The only other option I have is going into the branch yet again to phone from there.
Or wait for a few days.

Are you on the old online banking? If that is the case, the interest rate won't show.

No, I am on the new system, it's just that this new account is not giving an option to click on the interest rate.
I suppose it may be because I opened it on a Sunday, so the next working day might be Tuesday??? Maybe, who knows. I've given up trying to fathom out the ways of Halifax.

Sweet - bye bye Post Office account.

Soon Halifax will know everything about me - current account, cash ISA, credit card, Sharebuilder, funds ISA, and now this. Nationwide can keep my mortgage for now though ;)

Opened mine on Saturday and the rate is a no show.

I'm assuming the system is treating today as the first working day it's been open on and I'm anticipating rate display tomorrow!

    Thanks Opinions4u.
    That does sound logical.
It's just that when I was on the 'phone to the nice man yesterday, complaining about my no show Isa Direct Reward 4, I also asked him to register my new Websaver Reward for gross interest, and he said that the interest rate would show up tomorrow (ie today, Monday),so I took that as gospel.

I also opened mine on Saturday, today it was showing as interest of 2.8%. I am on the new style page.
  • I opened one of these accounts direct from the link inviting me to open one on the first page of my Halifax online banking - I've looked at the interest rate and it says 0.25% gross pa - any idea why this might be? :(

The 0.25% is the account with a cashcard - did you select one?
  • Oh, I think I did *smacks head* - thought it would be handy! Am I able to close this one do you think and re-apply online?

You can apply for a variable rate websaver without cashcard as well as one with.

I assume you can close the one with the cashcard but I would wait until you have the other set up first.

If you have not got another account with Halifax you might want to keep the cashcard account open as you can move money between the accounts online instantly, which is almost as good as having the cashcard on the high interest account.
