I sometimes use it to make a quick sauce to pour over chicken or pork. Its from a jamie oliver recipe. Simmer some white wine, add the cream and spoonful of wholegrain mustard and just warm through for a few mins. Not sure on the quantities but I just tend to do it by guessing anyway!
Otherwise you could use it to make bread and butter pudding!0 -
Hi
I have a small tub of single cream that's use by date is today. I was thinking about making some kind of stroganoff, or sauce for chicken. I've got beef and chick in freezer. Any ideas or receipes?
Thanks0 -

Fry some onions till sweated.
Boil some rice.
Boil some crushed cashew nuts, add 1tsp pataks curry paste of your choice, so the nuts taste nice. Add some of this curry, nut water to the onions in the frying pan, mix with onions, boil, reduce. Put a couple of tablespoons by to fry with rice.
Take off heat, add cream, boil a few mins.
Rinse the rice with cold water and fluff up.
Fry with a bit of the liquid put by.
Add 3tsp pataks curry paste to half cup of double cream.

Sorry if this is a daft question!
I have a carton of single cream in the fridge which goes off today, i want to somehow use it up to make some sort of dessert to take to a party tomorrow nite, (thinking cheesecake or using it in icing for a sponge or something?), will it still be ok? and suggestions for recipes welcome as well lol :T

Hi Sara,
It's hard to advise without seeingbeing able to see the cream but I imagine it will be fine. Give it a sniff and if it smells ok then taste a little bit and if it tastes ok then I'd be inclined to use it.
This thread has ideas for using up single cream:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.
