Does Oko track much? I'm using Biokats at the moment for my two and the 30l lasts around 2 months. The litter itself seems ok and they both are happy with it but it seems to track everywhere.

Plus the kitten seems to like to get his feet wet before going in there so I end up with a load of white foot prints everwhere.

I bought Oko once and had it absolutely all over the place. same with similar litters.

So sticking to Biocat, cost me under £15 per month for 4 cats so I think this is quite reasonable... 2 bags last me whole month with my 4 boys - and they ONLY ever pee/poo in the trays, even if they are in th garden all day.. still come home and first thing is the trays....
  • Might just stick to what I have then, the first lot lasted a month but that was because I sis a full clean in the middle of the month. This lot will last me two though as I now realise it doesn't need full change as often as the wood based did.

To be fair if it wasn't for Gitmo (I've renamed him as he's a little swine at the moment) it probably wouldn't track as much. He uses the litter tray backwards (we have a high backed one), he goes right to the back so the litter goes over the lip.

Bought a hooded litter box hoping it would reduce Gizmo's mess but it's used very rarely. In fact the most use it has is by Salem who likes to sit in there to get away from Gizmo. He gets in and when Gizmo tries to follow puts his paw on the door so he can't, occasionally batting it out over so it hits Gizmo :rotfl:
  • What ever you do don't buy the Asda Smartprice litter. Thought i'd give it a go and save so money. Its vile looks like stones its a brown colour and doesn't clump and sticks to the litter tray and also when she went toilet this morning could smell it from miles off. Normally get ASDA Tiger and its alright but can be better. Dying to try the tesco and Aldi/Lidl but don't have any local. To much to be carrying on buses.

I find that since we bougt a new litter tray from zooplus though smell and also clumping has been better. It doesn't stick to the bottom so much so can scoop more. I bought a hodded one (think its sold out) was about £15 and its really deep and big and fanastic keeps the smell in.
  • Just a head up for the Oko fans, zooplus have reduced the price of the 40L bag again (just days after I purchased it, pah!) and it's now at £19.99! :)

the way I look at it - the cheapest is not really the cheapest if you have to go through bags and bags of it

with biocat costing £15.. for 2 bags and those 2 bags lasting me a month for 4 cats, it is 3.75 per cat per month and that is brilliant
  • So I've been trying to order Biokats (yup - still using it!) for over a week and it's not on their website (the 2 x 15L ones for £14.90 which is fab)

Eventually emailed and ..... they're not stocking it anymore:eek:

There's new ones available (different packaging - and more expensive  at around £23.90 for 2 x 14L)

Have ordered some of the Boys one (has anyone tried it?) but it's not as fine ... which is one of the things I really liked about the other Biokats :(

Why can't they tell you when something's going to be discontinued so you can stock up

Thinking I may have to try the Golden Grey - are they all about the same?

  • They do still do it (if it's the one I'm using that was highly recommended on here) but it's £19.90 now.

I was also looking at the men cat litter but wasn't sure if it would be as fine.
  • The one I used was the same as that BUT not scented

The mens one (bit of a cheek calling it that TBH!) is def bigger granules as you can see it in one of the pics :(

They weren't that keen on the scented one - it was OK if it was mixed about 50/50 with the unscented but they really didn't like it just by itself :(

Not sure whether to order some of that and maybe mix with some Golden Grey?

  • Raising - I use this one:

IMO - Biocat (the very fine granules, do not like the bigger ones) is very similar to Golden Grey, both excellent.

But now, thinking of trying this one:

  • Oh dear... you are right - this one is scented... so not the same...hmmmmmmm

I was using the 14.99 for 2 bags too, so no more?

    Hmmmmm
