Woolworths have a special offer on their de-luxe Cross Cut Shredder at present. Reduced from £29.99 to £14.99 a massive saving of £15.00 This is £5 better than their previous offer. Just off to get one, they have loads in stock. Also available on their website but £3.95 for delivery

I noticed the Woolies machine last week but wanted to check the Asda unit which hadn't been in stock until today. It's at the £17.99 price and the model number is AS650C, it has a small transparent window in the bin and quotes it handles 6x80gsm/A4 in the manual so it sounds like the same model as previously mentioned. ASDA do a 28 day 'no quibble' on electrical kit (unlike Comet AFAIK?) so I got the ASDA unit on approval.

What does the Woolies machine quote for 'handling' (No., weight and sheet size)? If the Woolies unit is equivalent I may return the ASDA box.

My shredding/energy-saving tip:- most of the identifying data on official docs is on the top quarter of the sheet, so I often just tear that off for shredding and put the rest in with the newspapers/mags for normal recycling.

In view of the latest post, the question is probably immaterial, and I can't find the instruction sheet anyway!! But from memory I think it recommended 4 sheets, and any credit cards, singly & separately. But am very pleased with it, unlike the PC world one which I had to return pronto.

Yes, I saw that too today, but I did get a look at the machine. I think the Asda jobby is slightly better looking (charcoal grey vs Beige) and looks slightly heavier duty. PC World's own PC Line x-cutter is still £15 and looks very similar to the Woolies unit at a quick glance.
  • How much is the ASDA shredder?

I'm not the only one then?

The asda one was around £9, but may have gone back to the £18 box-label price, or the £13 shelf price!

The bin has a different 'window' but that might just be the same model as the ASDA one. I will have a closer look tonight
