Woolies have put the £14.99 one back up to £29.99, though the guy in the shop said he thought they would be reduced again. I am guessing that will be in the New Year Sales.

I'm going to hold out for that one, as the Which? magazine test said it is the only one at less than £40 that doesn't overheat and cut out after a few sheets. Not that they tested every shredder on the market, so maybe some of these other cheapies are OK, but I think I would rather know that I am getting a machine that has stood up to some tests.

  • I went into the Big W today, well yesterday as it is after 1 in the morning after reading here that the shredder is back to £14.99 from £29.99. It was still £29.99 on the shelf so I thought I would take it to the till to see if it scanned at £14.99. However it scanned at £29.99 so I am still shredder less. Will keep looking in the shops and obviously here aswell. Good Hunting. ;)

Priced up at £14.99 in Woolworths today
  • After seeing the price on the Woolworths web site I returned to the Big W to see if they would be changing the price to £14.99 or if not price match the website. They said it was still £29.99 and that the web site prices are seperate from the web site prices, also that they do not price match.

This was at the Big W in Cheetham Hill/ Manchester. Deanos what store did you see it at, and woolies or Big W?

Called in to Woolworth's Swansea on Monday and the shredder was marked up at £29.99. Went back in today and grabbed one for £14.99! So it pays to keep checking

I already bought one of the £29.99 shredders from Woolies online for £14.99 and a friend wanted one as well. I phoned Woolies in Kirkcaldy and she said she had a cross cut one at £29.99 and another cheaper one. I asked if the cross cut shouldn't be reduced as mine had been £14.99. She went away to look then came back and said Yes - £14.99. We bought that one but I think they are having more in so phone around before you trek to a shop. They will put one aside for you, then you can go straight there for it. The first shop I phoned had none left but gave me Kirkcaldy's phone number to try there. It's cheaper to phone to find one than drive around.

Ok, perhaps not the best for 'moneysaving', but for £11 more than the Asda one you can get a Fellowes cross-cut shredder from Argos for £25.

I got one last year and it is great - it has never jammed on me, it can handle staples, up to four folded A4 sheets at a time and sits nicely on my desk.

It can also shred credit cards without a problem - I would thoroughly recommend it!

The catalogue number is 671/9388, but have someone to carry it for you as it weighs a ton! (You could always use Nectar points to pay for it!)

Fellowes are dreadful quality, just like the cheap ones
bought a cross cut one from PCworld on offer - 80 to 40.00...lasted 1 month and jammed trying to cut 5 sheets, when it should cut 7

Asda - bought a strip cut one from Asda which lasted 1 hour!!

Rexel are the best...thats why companies use them....bought a Rexel one from Makro for 15.00ish inc vat....albeit a strip cut...been brill for over a year now!....though when this packs up im getting a decent cross cut one...cheap ones are a waste of space
