Declaring a spend of £9.86 last friday.. shall be doing a food shop tomorrow at Mr A. I've loads of tesco vouchers... trying to decide whether to double them up for clothes for my DD for nursery.. to get her bday presents already (isn't her bday until aug) or to use for a big shop. Economically speaking it is probably better to at least double them up for clothes/presents or see if any of the tesco deals catch my eye.. hmmm decisions!

I'm doing my meal plans for this week and am completely uninspired. I usually insist on two veggie days a week (my builder husband would eat meat at every meal if allowed). But, we slaughter our own animals so meat is really cheap for us, it doesn't come out of my grocery budget. Any ideas for veggie meals which will be filling for someone who's worked in the cold rain for 10 hours, but also won't break my grocery challenge? (BTW, my husband refuses to eat risotto). We will have spaghetti with tomato/black olives/anchovy/chilli sauce on one day but I can't think of anything else.
Also, reading other posts, what is DTD, in regards to supermarket shopping? This is all very new to me so I don't understand shorthand!

    Afternoon all
Just updated my signature and have had 2 Nsds this weekend. Really pleased about this as I was really spending ridiculously last month. I think that I was so strict with myself over the jan and feb that I rebelled !!!! Ah well, back on track big time. Had to go to into main town for a message so decided to pop to Sainsbugs and stocked up on what I would have needed later in the week. Spent £36.25 but I did buy a bottle of red wine for best friend who I am going to visit in a couple of days. We are really trying to eat healthy here and we are buying alot of fruit and chicken so I doubt very much that I will be able to save much out of my £400 budget this month. We have cut back on bread drastically so we are spending more money on nuts etc.
Will do my best to keep on track but I think we all would agree that food is certainly increasing week by week.

I also would love to know what a DTD is...sorry its probably really obvious but it hasn't clicked with me yet!

Good luck to all this week

  • Ive done a lot of shopping this week BUT Ive bought a lot of bargains too!
The other day I went to Coop and got reduced chicken breasts which were already "supposedly" on a half price offer and I paid £1.90 per pack-about 4 breasts on av per pack. I bought 5 of those. Also got some spreadable butter(cant remember the brand)at just 44p as short dated-normaly about £2.38. Got 7 of those!
Went to Mr T today and got value curry sauce at 4p per tin!!!!!!!!!!!! Valu spag bol sauce at 18p per jar, straight spaghetti at 20p per pack and long grain rice at 49p per pack. We rather like Mr Ts low fat crackers at 26p per pack so got 4 packs. BARGAINS! Also went to Li*l and Mr M and got a few bargains there. Mr M is always good on sliced bread so I got 6 loaves. Lots of cold meats in Li*l-their 100g bavarian ham is only 88p. Now you see why Im a bit of a shopaholic! Now to find room in the cupboards! Ooh just remembered-got a turkey- 4kg in Li*l for £6.99. Perfect for Easter.
