Glad to hear that your S&S ISA is doing well! I am too risk adverse to get one of those!

Premium bonds? Why? I think you are better off putting that money into savings accounts as at least you'll be guaranteed a return! How well have your current premium bonds yielded?

I'm still waiting for my first payday in the new job, which should come this Friday, it's taking forever lol!

Hello Lokolo 2, how is your new job? i hope waiting for pay day was not so bad.
I do understand why you think about Premium Bonds in a negative way, but i must confess, i am trying to stop playing the lotto:eek:. So my way of thinking is to put this money towards premium bonds instead(may not gain any interest, but not a money pit like the lotto:rotfl:)

Hello A Flock Of Sheep, thank you for your post. If you don't mind me asking, have you had many wins with your Premium Bonds?

Hello Savingmummy, thank you for your post, i must say since i have started this thread i have been making sure i save the targets that i had set originally and more and i am very happy with this as i do not usually last for more than 2 months :D.

    The beloved car
The car is at it again, this time its the exhaust (there is a crack across the middle part) I do love my mechanic, i was quoted originally by a well known garage £230:eek: my mechanic £125. So that is going to get fix on Monday.

    bye for now...

    Hey Sylvia,
New job is going OK, it's easy money because it just involves standing around at the ticket barriers, all I do is help people who have queries or whose tickets/Oyster doesn't open the barriers for them. So the standing gets tiring for my feet but the job itself is so easy. It's not great money though so I'm hoping to move roles after my 6month probation period is up.

This is also the first time ever that I've put into a pension, I joined the work one which is a Final salary scheme and they give 15% if I contribute 10%, so I couldn't resist it! :j It does make me feel somewhat old though but I'm hoping it will be worth it in the long term!

You're lucky to have a mechanic who doesn't rip you off, you can't get much done for £125 nowadays so that's a great price!

As for anyone thinking saving £2 coins is sad, I still save 1p and 2p coins in the hope that one day I'll have £20 worth, sometimes every little helps (Credit to Tesco for that phrase) ;)

Hello Lokolo 2, so happy to hear your new job is going okay and that you have started your first pension scheme :T. regarding tired feet, this tends to be worst in this sort of weather, try and soak your feet when you get home from work and then put them up.

My car got fixed today and yes my mechanic is the best, he's always telling me the tricks of the trade and the best places to go to to get parts cheaper :D.

Thanks for the tip Sylvia, I'll try that, maybe I should have baths more often too to unwind as opposed to showering!

Glad you got your car back and all is fine, I also noticed how close you are to your target, only just under £8k to go! Did you set a target date as to when you want to reach your savings goal?

Saving the coins is good, but it can help to keep them separated otherwise it takes ages to sort them out after :D

Right I'm off to work, my next payday isn't for another 3 weeks so stuff you all! :(:p

Hello Lokolo 2, i am hoping to reach my target for the deposit fund by December(fingers cross) so i can then make a start on the fees fund in the New Year and hopefully have all target saving goals saved by Spring 2013.

    Bye for now...

I hope I am not opening a can of worms here - as I mean no offence....but

have you considered looking at your career - rather than just looking at the saving side? You are doing very well in a low-risk strategy type of way but increasing your salary will not only have an immediate effect but a compounded one over time. Personally I think that is where I would concentrate my efforts. Earning £20k ish in London is very low - it shouldn't be too hard to achieve far more than that within 2-3 years.

Just a thought as you seem very resigned to staying in your current role/situation......

    Oh what an interesting post.

You got your friends to buy the drinks?

Maybe she just drank less than everyone else and was just happy to be out with friends? Or drank soft drinks?

Thats what i'd presume unless told otherwise.
I have had a few nights out where I've spent less that £20 due to drinking slower, and mixing in the odd lemonade or blackcurrant and soda, where my friends have spent in excess of £80. Just depends how you handle yourself and your purse. Oh and typing this is making me reflect on the cheaper nights always being the most fun. Think I should return to drinking soft drinks for a while. No one ever knows its lemonade or soda and black anyway, apart from me and my headache free morning after.
