Hello Lokolo 2,
Happy to see you have been following since your last post:j. I cannot believe you are only 21 years old and have almost saved £40k. I better make sure my mum doesn't see this, as i can feel a big lecture coming my way:rotfl:At the moment I work in retail but I'm about to change and work on the Railways, something I've always wanted to do, my start date for this is in just over 3 weeks time so I can't wait :jPay isnt amazing but it's shift work so I'm hoping I can fit it around Uni
Congratulations on the new job!
I work shifts, all i can say is make sure you are prepared for the shock your body will go into for the first few weeks.(With you still being at uni) I remember the first month of working shifts, i really didn't know whether i was coming or going e.g finish work at midnight then start the next day at 10am. I am now totally use to it now. I hope the shifts are not that extreme.don't get your hands too dirty in the garden
Lol! too late, my nails are totally ruined. But i am totally loving it as the sun is out:j
Silly me told my mum that i now have reached my £30k goal... wow, she got upset and kept asking what have i been doing with my money. My mum thought i had reached the £40k already
I better get back to work on the garden,
Bye for now...

I like what you say in your sig about saving to live or living to save, sometimes I feel I am living to save
Being an avid saver has made me very stingey when it comes to spending so I don't enjoy myself as much as I should!
Be carefull about this as you could easily upset your friends by being seen as stingy. Plus your early 20's are the best years of your life so i wouldnt scrimp on the socialising etc just to save a few extra quid in the long run0 -

I found your posts very inspiring so I like following them as it motivates me to keep saving :T
I've only done well so far because of having hardly any outgoings, so I am trying to save as much as I can before I move out and start having bills to pay!
I do somewhat agree with PaulW about being stingey, sometimes it's a shame to miss out on good times, admittedly though I do spend money when I'm around my friends, but less on myself so it works out low-cost (I don't go on the 5* Holidays that Sylvia indulges in)

Yes I know it will be a shock to the system, earliest start times are 6am and latest finish time 11:30pm! It will be hard to get up at 4:30 for a 6am start but I'm sure I can push myself to do it :j And I assume they won't give me an early shift after just having done a late one because of the rest entitlements.
Sylvia, if you don't mind me asking, what kinda job do you do at the moment?Sylvia1982 wrote: »Lol! too late, my nails are totally ruined. But i am totally loving it as the sun is out:j

Aww your mum seems to expect highly of you, I've never chosen to disclose my savings amount to my parents or anyone around me really as I feel it's better to keep it private (friends might get jealous and parents will probably make me pay rent if they found out :rotfl:)
But don't be disheartened, you've done so incredibly well to get to where you are now, and you will hit £40k pretty soon! I'm sure many people in their 20's even have little or no savings at all, some even have huge debt due to Uni
Enjoy the lovely weather, some of us have to work:j

Hello everyone, i hope you all had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend
Hi Lokolo 2,I found your posts very inspiring so I like following them as it motivates me to keep saving :Taww
I've only done well so far because of having hardly any outgoings, so I am trying to save as much as I can before I move out and start having bills to pay! This is really a good position to be in

Well its now my past:rotfl:
Sylvia, if you don't mind me asking, what kinda job do you do at the moment?
Sorry Lokolo 2, but due to the nature of my job, i cannot disclose this information on hereAww your mum seems to expect highly of you, I've never chosen to disclose my savings amount to my parents or anyone around me really as I feel it's better to keep it private (friends might get jealous and parents will probably make me pay rent if they found out :rotfl:)

I must say, when i do reach the 40k mark... i am sooo going on holiday :rotfl:
Regarding others with no savings! I know several who are younger than me with this i want... i buy on credit attitude, it really scares me. One aged 22 years old has just under 20k in debt:eek: It was at peak 24k. The worst part, there is nothing to show for what the money was spent on.
Selling of BB mobile phone
I have a buyer and he will buy it off me at some point this month for £50. I can not believe i am going to make a big lost when i sell it as i bought it for £170 5 months ago(But that is the most it will make at second hand).
Bye for now...

Well done
It's been a good week for me too, got Payday from last weeks work which includes 2 Bank Holidays that I worked at doubletime pay, so a nice chunk to go into savings. I always feel poor with weekly pay though because it never looks like much on payday!!
Another positive was that I got my car insurance sorted, and saved £200 compared to last years, its now down to £570!! Which might sound like alot to some, but I am 21 and 2yrs no claims on a £4k value car and fully comp so I think it's great :j0 -
Hello Lokolo 2,
It appears you definitely dont live in London:rotfl:I wish i could get my car insurance quote that low,i am currently waiting for my renewal to come through the post(so i can make a start on the compare websites). My last years was £1,123 based on one years no claim on a £2.3k car, keep in mind i'm 28 years old. Lets see what its going to be with 2 years no claims
Also congratulation on the saving front
Hope everyone has a nice weekend, even though its raining

Hello everyone!
I am in such a good mood as I have just finished work for the week (two days off, yay:j).
It has been a very busy week, I have at least renewed my car insurance for £909.83 with same insurer. It was really weird as they were the cheapest on the comparison websites and still even cheaper when i received my renewal. Not complaining, just shocked that it is this low
I have managed to get another 2 x £2 coins today, sig will be updated shortly
On a personal target, I have actually gone back to the gym twice this week
Hope everyone has a nice weekend
Bye for now...

Hello everyone,
I am in a foul mood, I have received a statutory report yesterday, which I requested from Experian. I could not believe what I saw on an old credit card with Halifax showing a late payment next to it . The only occasion this error may of been made, is when a staff in branch, managed to take out the payment from my debit card and put it back on my debit card, instead of paying my credit card bill off, whilst trying to do a sells pitch . I got a full refund of the late fee and they informed me that this would be removed from my credit file, not according to this statutory report. I have now written to the underwriters to sort this out
Rant over...
I am still awaiting for my statutory report from CallCredit, fingers cross this does not show anymore problems
I have also spoken with my friend yesterday over lunch, he made me laugh by saying I would still be saving for a deposit for another five years. He doesn't think it would be cost affective for me to buy a house outside of London. I have a funny feeling he has been speaking to my mother, hmmm. What should I do?
I now have doubts, which is seriously not good. Oh well, lets see once I have saved these targets, who knows what my situation will be by then.
Bye for now...

Oh no, hopefully you can get this sorted out! Although I doubt that one late payment on file will cause you that many problems, I think you just want a perfect recordSylvia1982 wrote: »I have also spoken with my friend yesterday over lunch, he made me laugh by saying I would still be saving for a deposit for another five years. Hmm why wouldnt it be cost effetive to get a house OUTSIDE London? I think it would be alot cheaper...the cost of commuting doesn't add up to that much when you look at the humongous house price differences between a house in Central London and one in the suburbs!
No matter what your mum says, it's got to be your decision at the end of the day so you should do what you think is right, research the options and then decide. :j
Well done for getting cheaper car insurance! Maybe yours is expensive because of the higher risk of accident/theft from driving in London! Anyway the cost should go down every year which is a blessing!
Gym?! Why on earth are you going there?! I bet you are one of those ladies who thinks they are overweight even though they aren't!I could do with going to the gym myself but I really can't be bothered at the moment
I start my new job next week, but it means I won't get payday until 4 weeks down the line... I'm gonna have to try to skimp on spending on luxuries until then!!!0
