  • hello cornish pastie, phone no i used is: 01255477032. it is the woolwich customer relations number, good luck, let me know how you get on, there doesn't seem to be many of us woolwich reclaimers!!

    Hi refundmeplze

Have just spoken to their customer relations department who inform me that they will be writing to me by the 29th as originally stated in their first letter. Due to the high volumne of people claiming back their charges they are apparently struggling to cope. I informed the very nice gentleman on the other end that I will give them until the 29th and that if I don't hear anything from them by then I shall be going for them big time.

    Thanx for the phone number.
  • Cornish pastie, they said the same to me the last 2 times I phoned (before today) my date being the 19th March. Just try giving them a call every few days, you never know!

This sort of information is invaluable, which is why it is so important that anyone who been going through this whole process keeps the rest of us updated.

    Thanx again.

I am to claiming £860 in charges from the Woolwich.I sent my initial letter registered mail on the 21st of FEB, 2 days later got the standard "We will be in touch by the 22nd of March". My claim is an estimate and I have asked for a breakdown of my charges to be sent to me, this hasnt yet happened.
My point in this is that I am Credit Controller for a medium sized company in charge of about £250k a month and this results in putting people in court on a regular basis.
Using Money Claim Online is a doddle, you dont have to attend court unless its disputed (not had one disputed yet!) and the judge will still decide on the claimants side if the documentation is there to prove it, the judge can even decide to give the claimant a lower amount if the case is disputed. The point of this is that I am going to put the Woolwich in court on the 22nd of the month WITHOUT proof of these charges as it is there responsibility to PROVE they DONT owe me this money as I have given them plenty of time and notification that I want a list of charges.
Anyone considering using a specialist frirm or solicitor to reclaim these charges, dont . The money claim online website is as easy as filling a dentists form but the result is always a lot better. With regards to the court charges remember SPECULATE TO ACCUMULATE

hi, just you let you know that i have been claiming my charges back from woolwich, and originally only asked for £2600. this was from my first letter dated 16th jan. had the usual letters sent to me saying they were going to deal with by such and such date etc. the last letter said it would be dealt with by 12th march. rang them up on the said day as i had not got a letter and they said they had posted a letter to me the previous day ( which was a sunday????? strange) saying that thyey could offer me £800. i said no way, and they basically said... take us to court if you dont like it!!
i have now filed a claim with money claim and included more charges to date which has taken the amount to just over £3000. i have now decided to include the interest which i didnt before, and the total cost of my claim has risen to £4700. they now have 14 days to put in a defence.
i say stuff em!!! they would have got away with only paying £2600 if they had just admitted to it, but now im taking them to court..... i willpost another comment after the court date and let u all know how i get on.
to all you who are claiming.... dont lose faith and dont go by their time scale. they only say no or offer a silly amount so u might as well go ahead and take them to court.

I guess I have that to look forward to.

  • Hi,
I am going through the reclaiming of bank charges process with the Woolwich who are now owned by Barlcays. I have just sent off my letter requesting the payment of charges £2,112 plus interest. I gave the bank 14 days to reply; they replied today 1 week later saying they would deal with the matter within 4 weeks. Can anyone recommend what to do next? Should I wait or re-iterate my last letter and time period. Any advice welcome! Thanks.

Don't wait the 4 weeks, send off your next letter saying you will be taking court action.

Just been phoned by a friend of mine.

He recieved a letter from Barclays this morning saying that they would get hold of him within 4 weeks. They also put on the letter something about a new "legislation" being brought in in the first week of April..?
