Just found this thread, cheesy peeps it brings back memories. I learned to bake via my Mum's Be-Ro cook book when I was a wee girl (which wasn't yesterday). Saturday afternoons doing the baking for the week for the family......Victoria sponges, fairy cakes, scones, rock buns. Course it never lasted a week, and when it was gone that was it until Saturday came round again! Am sure I only took an interest so that I could lick the bowl! Will have to check and see if Mum still has the book, and what edition it is.0

Your post reminded me to get one, and yesterday I finally found one in Morrisons too, so thank you. I sort of read the introduction to the book, amazing really :
it was first published in 1923, its in it's 40th edition, it has sold over 38 million copies and is "arguably the best selling cookery book of all time" wow.

38 Million? Wow! So it must be a full time job for somebody (or several somebodies) to send all the books out. No wonder it takes weeks to get one!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
