I sent a cheque for 99 pence for the cookery book to the old offer address at the beginning of May and have not had anything back as yet. The cheque has not been passed, so I dont know how long to wait before giving up and sending the £1.25 to the new address, I dont want to end up with 20

My copy of this wonderful book is the 21st edition, it actually says if you need a replacement to write to the address given & you will get a new copy free of charge
It's such a good book, it brings back such warm memories of baking cakes with my late nana-it was her who got me into cooking.

I used to use my Bero cookbook frequently in the days when I used to do a lot of home baking
Still got it somewhere , might even have two come to think of it.
If I remember rightly , I used to do melting moments and banana loaf amongst other thingsSame old same old since 20080 -

Hang in there a few more days yet! I just checked my bank online and the 99p cheque I sent at the beginning of the month has been cashed today, although I've not yet received my book, but then my post has gone walkies today too "An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

I got mine three or four days after the cheque showed up on my bank statement. I suspect the job of sending out booklets isn't a full time job. Somebody in their offices probly does it whenever they have a few spare moments...
At least we know that we haven't overloaded them and the address is still working!Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Just to join in the "Be-Ro-fest" I have my Mum's which is the 1971 one but I actually use the one of my Nan's (and she died in 1960!). It looks suspiciously like a 40s book from the print, style and illustrations. Best bit is that it uses less sugar etc than the "new" one :rotfl: and OH likes the cakes better. Does this mean I have the oldest one?
Last night he tried to tell me not to bake as we are both meant to be losing weight - ha ha ha. He particularly likes the cherry cake (make it in a loaf tin instead of a round one and it keeps for AGES) as it also doubles when older as a fab pud with some custard and the biccies. mmmmm biccies <<homer moment>>. I've also got some fab ones that my Mum left from Women's Weekly and every now and again I'll buy a copy of the mag for nostalgia!!!But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green0 -
The website with the current details for Be-Ro is http://www.be-ro.co.uk/. It's the first time I've heard of this book, which, as I collect cookery books, I was surprised about. It’s got links to most recipes online as well, though I’ll have to get a copy of the book now!
I particularly like Old Marguerite Pattens and have all her wartime recipe cookbooks (which are great to economise on) and my prized possessions is Cookery in Colour from my mother, which her mother gave to her as a wedding present.
I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...
I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!0
