Ok and thanks for the reminder of the Be-Ro web site, but as far as we know they are still honouring the address given in the first post. And the price at £0.99 instead of the £1.25 quoted on the website.

Just to join in the "Be-Ro-fest" I have my Mum's which is the 1971 one but I actually use the one of my Nan's (and she died in 1960!). It looks suspiciously like a 40s book from the print, style and illustrations. Best bit is that it uses less sugar etc than the "new" one :rotfl: and OH likes the cakes better. Does this mean I have the oldest one?
It certainly might well be the oldest one!

Does it say what Edition number it is on the front?

It says 19th edition inside. It also says "should this booklet become soiled or damaged the Manufacturers will send a fresh copy, free and post free". mmm don't think i'd get away with that. besides it has various extra recipes copperplated into the margins :naughty: and some of the pages are, ahem, a little "coated", mmmmm jam cake........... One bit does make me smile though. First 1 of the 3 useful hints of making cakes is "first look to your oven". you show me the oven that can bake by itself and i'm buying it!! :rotfl:
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

Put a vanilla pod in a jar and the sugar will get the flavour really quickly - especially if you crack the pod first. also works very well withy rosemary and lavender - fab on top of scones..... it's official, I HAVE turned into my Mother !!!
