#68 Hambrook:
Not sure if under Lovefilm's T&C's you're supposed to actually receive your first DVD before cancelling.
I can't see why it would make any difference but I'm having major second thoughts about this outfit and all the i's that need dotting and t's that need crossing.
I'm going to cancel as soon as my first DVD arrives -- which is ironic, because I was intending to take out a full-time subscription: we had a great one with Amazon at our previous address, but cancelled that (without fuss, and in less than a minute) when we moved house a year ago. We haven't rented any DVDs since.
Another poster here has helpfully recommended cancelling by email after the "working hours" of the expensive telephone service, so I'll try it that way.
Obviously, a delay in Lovefilm's despatch of the first DVD will cut into the amount of time available to cancel the subscription, so I'm relieved that yesterday's registration brought a confirmation email of a 3-week trial period.
Those here who seem to have secured only a 2-week trial period may be less fortunate.0 -
Spud wrote:Yes, that's correct. I tried to cancel once after 10pm but as their phone lines weren't open I was able to do it online.
Thanks Spud - what I meant to say earlier but didn't phrase as best as I could was ALWAYS cancel out of hours if cancelling is what you want to do.
There in zero chance of an online form trying to talk you out of it!0 -
technodwj wrote:This is no reflection on Boots but Be warned that Lovefilm will do EVERYTHING possible to prevent you from cancelling your "Trial".
They have no UK admin address,an Indian Call centre, only 0870 contact numbers, Managers that are never available and even deny reciept of Recorded Delivery communications.
If they wern't for real they would be a joke providing the "bad example" of eveything that the MSE site stands for.
They used to provide the DVD rental service for Sainsburys but they dropped them ( I wonder why!!!!)
LoveFilm are positivly the worst and most conniving retailer I have ever had to deal with.
BE WARNED FRIENDS DO NOT GIVE THEM A CARD NUMBER --- YOU WILL REGRET IT0 -
If you are having problems with them still debiting your card, can't you cancel the card and request a new one from your bank?0

deanos wrote:No your trial ends when you have taken out 6 dvd's or 21 days whichever is sooner
You have to choose 10 dvd's from the list and they will send you whatever is available
I have spoken to them this morning as I signed up a week last tuesday and I have only received one film. Apparently you have to send the film back as soon as possible for the you to keep receiving free films during the trial period. I thought you could keep it for as long as you like and also I was waiting for others to arrive so I could use one envelope to send them back. So if I send of the one I have today I will get sent out another on Monday in time for me to cancel on Tuesday.DTD - Doing Tesco Daily - while I still have vouchers!0 -

Took up Boots offer on 24 November. First film was sent out on 27th November and sent back on 29th November. Used 0808 2000 193 to call this morning and cancel membership. Lady confirmed that film had been received back by them and that she would cancel membership. She did ask why so I told her that I was only really intersted in the Boots voucher. She accepted that and cancelled membership. She did say I would receive an e-mail confirming cancellation but so far it has not arrived.
The one thing I did do after I received the first film was to go in and take all items out of my rental list. This prevented them sending me another film out when the first one was received back.0 -
i signed up 5 days ago and still no dvd sent out today, no voucher
