This is no reflection on Boots but Be warned that Lovefilm will do EVERYTHING possible to prevent you from cancelling your "Trial".
They have no UK admin address,an Indian Call centre, only 0870 contact numbers, Managers that are never available and even deny reciept of Recorded Delivery communications.
If they wern't for real they would be a joke providing the "bad example" of eveything that the MSE site stands for.
They used to provide the DVD rental service for Sainsburys but they dropped them ( I wonder why!!!!)
LoveFilm are positivly the worst and most conniving retailer I have ever had to deal with.
BE WARNED FRIENDS DO NOT GIVE THEM A CARD NUMBER --- YOU WILL REGRET IT

This is not an issue - I agree with you in that my own experience with Lovefilm is that they are vermin, and ideally not to be dealt with, but the easy solution if you have any difficulties or sums deducted from your cards is to contact your card company. Report it as an unauthorised transaction (and if you feel sufficiently strongly tell the card company that you would formally suggest that they don't deal with them again.)

Your money will then get credited back straight away.

    Actually, that's not true:
LOVEFiLM International Ltd, No 9, 6 Portal Way, London W3 6RU, UK
    Email: support@lovefilm.com

LOVEFiLM (a registered trademark) is owned and operated by LOVEFiLM International Ltd Registered No: 4392195; Registered Office: 60 Sloane Avenue, London SW3 3DD, UK.

...and if you get messed around, follow the usual rule - go to the top! These appear to be the key people:
LoveFilm.com, the online DVD rental service, has appointed former Sainsbury and Homeserve marketer Andrew Ground to be its UK managing director.

that was from the 28th, so the guy appears to be new.

    Plus:
    William Reeve
Group Chief Operating Officer of LOVEFiLM
    Founder of ScreenSelect

William Reeve founded ScreenSelect in 2003 prior to merging the business with Video Island in late 2004 and with LOVEFiLM in 2006. He now runs LOVEFiLM’s operations. LOVEFiLM is the UK’s largest online DVD rental business and is backed by Benchmark Capital, Index Ventures, Cazenove Private Equity, and Arts Alliance Media.

Prior to this, William was European Group Director for Forrester Research. William joined Forrester when they acquired Fletcher Research, a business William founded in 1997, and which became the UK’s leading Internet research firm.

I have joined up with Love film, just to get the £15 really. I don't even want to order any videos so can I cancel with them now if I want to? How do I cancel? Do I need to contact my bank to cancel the direct debit? to be honest, I am worried now and wish I hadn't done it......
    Keep on trucking!

As per t+c's you need to rent at least 1 dvd to qualify for the voucher, if you want to cancell go into your account and press the cancell button

right- im really annoyed now- no reply to my email, and the money is still missing from my account!

i dont suppose anyone out there has a phone number for them do they??

as it was a debit card rather than a credit card, can i still phone my bank and tell them it was an unauthorised transaction??

    many thanks

  • I too wished I hadn't bothered with this deal. Is there a contact at Boots to call? Somebody there must have dealt with Love Film
  • Signed up yesterday. Put 3 discs in queue. First has been marked as being at home, so assume it has been sent. Have gone to My Account and cancelled it.

It told me I have until 19 December to return it or I get charged my 'nect' billing cycle. Watch this space
  • I signed up for this offer today, but it said I had only got a 14 day free promotion, does anyone know if this is correct?

Thanks in advance for any help.
  • Hi. I joined Lovefilm a few weeks ago using a freebie trial included in Saturday's Telegraph supplement. Film selection is extensive and turnaround was usually very good (except when they experienced technical problems, which may have been caused by a huge in-flux of voucher users).

However, please note: in order to avoid first month's rental fee, all DVDs need to be back with Lovefilm before the cancellation is effective. I cancelled as soon as the 6th DVD had been sent out but, because it arrived back with them after the billing date, I was charged for first month's rental. Tried to get refund but they wouldn't have it. They do, however, offer to re-activate one's account for a month, so that you can at least make use of the £9.99 paid. They even seem to activate it from the date they are asked, rather than from the date you cancelled, which is nice!

    Enjoy.

I've just checked and it says next payment due: 14/12/2006. So it seems to be only a 2 week trial? Do I still get the Boots voucher?

    Thanks.
