OK, now I wish I'd not bothered. I decided this probably isn't a great idea after all, so I went to cancel, but got a message saying I should call them and speak to an advisor because they want to ask me a few questions. So, I now can't cancel without ringing their (0870) number. Surely that's wrong? :rolleyes:0

I thought you could do this but only "out of hours"? i.e outside whatever hours they have the phone lines open?0 -
ok- after a rather lengthy, frustrating and confusing phone call to their CS, (which sounds like an overseas call centre btw), lovefilm have confirmed that they took the money from my account in order to verify my card details. HOWEVER, there is no way hat they can speed up the return of funds to my account- apparently it takes between 3-5 working days.
So, they have effectively taken £20 from me, which will be return ed a fter 3-5 days. great. i have direct debits due tomorrow
apologies for typing btw- baby is helping
EDIT - finally recieved reply from the email i sent them:Dear tankgirl1,
Thanks for your email with regards payment on your account. When a new account is set up on LOVEFiLM we do pre-authorise your card up to the value of two month's membership. Please note that this money is not taken from your account and is released after 5 working days.
This pre-authorisation allows us to confirm that you are the cardholder and protects both yourself and us as a company against fraud. If for some reason this is declined by your bank then your account will remain inactive until a valid card can be processed.
Please do contact us if you have any other questions.
Kind regards,
Vincent

ok, just signed up, all looks good and my first 2 dvds are being sent to me.
my question is: someone on this thread mentioned that they signed up twice using 2 different cards and changing their address from "five queens way" to "5 queens way" (or whatever). ild like to do the same, but just wondered where i would stand from a legal standpoint. does anyone know? would that be illegal and i could land myself on hot water? thanks.0 -
Ok.I have chosen my 10,and they have today sent me one.I have now cancelled all the other 9,so they cant send me any more.I will send that one back recorded delivery to be on the safe side. How do i cancell with lovefilm and do i need to cancell with my bank?
I also thought they would send me a returns evelope, but there isnt one,is there?0 -
You use the envelope they use to send to send back, take your address bit off and seal it up0

#63 Edna Bucket: super post, many thanks!
If you don't mind I'd like to cull some of its content and add to the separate thread I posted a little earlier about Lovefilm and its service and cancellation procedure.
I'll be glad to distance myself from them as soon as possible.0
