29/11/06 15:00 Signed up via link in post #1 to qualify
    29/11/06 15:15 Loaded 3 films into queue
29/11/06 18:15 Noticed one film had shipped
30/11/06 10:00 Logged into my film, went to My account and Cancelled the account. Yes they nag you if you would like to stay with different offers. Eventually got to a screen saying I would have to return by 19th if next (first) payment was not to be taken from my account
01/12/06 First film arrived. Now being 'watched' (derive from that what you will) and will be posted back to them in 10 mins (post is collected at 17:30 at local post box)
04/12/06 10:50 "We are sorry to see you go but we can confirm that your account is now cancelled and no further discs will be sent out to you. "

Does anyone know how we receive the £15 boots voucher. I recall reading it take 28 days.......

Due to all the tips on here,(I was VERY nervous due to previous postings about lovefilm) but did the following:selected 10 dvds as required, one at a time, made only one high priority, all the others low priority. As soon as the screen showed that one had been dispatched i removed all the other choices (yes they then keep sending you emails).Having received the film, after viewing I returned it recorded delivery (about 68p).I will track it online it should take about 48 hours max, then will cancell.Just checked by going nearly to the end of cancellation on lovefilm, they say i have until the 18th,so loads of time.Once i can check its been received i wil cancel.

Edited 10/1/07-Have been told I will receive a voucher.."generally within a minimum of 28 working days" Will update.
  • They've charged me £12.99 and i've only had 3 dvds.
And its only been about 5 days into the trial.
i sent them an email and they told me i wasnt entitled to a free trial!

no reply from them about my refund!
So i dont think ill be getting a voucher!
2nd money savings thing ive done thats gone wrong..
    wahey! :(

  • it now says on the web stie that when u upgrade or downgrade your account the trail period comes to an end.
it didnt say this in the T&C..
    so be aware.

As they have charged me £12.99 anyway.
I might as well keep the account till the end of the month?

should i cancel in a week or two?
and ask for the money back if they charge me again after that?

I signed up on Sunday and got a two week trial, not a three week one. I emailed Customer Services to ask why, and to confirm that I'd be getting my Boots voucher. The next day I received a reply simply saying I was not eligible to get the voucher. No explanation.

I've not signed up for a trial before, so I can't think why I wouldn't be eligible.

    Strange.

I went through QuidCo, so if I don't get the voucher I guess I'll try to get the cashback on that if I don't get the voucher (or half the cashback from the look of QuidCo's note).

Sorry to hear about these trial duration problems; we signed up on November 29th and received a confirmation email from Lovefilm saying "First payment date: December 20, 2006 (earlier if your 7th disc rental is before this date). Subscription package: DVD - 1 Disc - £9.99/month."

Can't understand why some MSErs have got three weeks but others only two.

As to the existence (or not) of the Boots voucher, when we go online to check our account status, it's always 'nested' within the Boots website -- so the interlinking's definitely there. We've also used the on-screen tabs to surf through what Boots has to offer this season -- quite a lot, by the look of it, including some good bargains.

Whether or not the click-throughs validate the Lovefilm / Boots tie-in I've no idea, so it will be interesting to see when / if our voucher arrives.

As to our Lovefilm subscription, we decided not to cancel immediately but to run with the account for a little while, ensuring that our final DVD was with Lovefilm not later than December 13th.

Not sure if allocation / despatch is on a weekly basis because we received our first DVD last Friday and watched it Friday evening -- 'Syriana', absolutely useless, but that's not Lovefilm's fault! -- and posted it back Saturday morning. On Monday our account showed that (a) the DVD had been received safely; (b) we had no DVDs at home; (c) our next DVD would be despatched soon.

Nothing's been sent yet though. It may be that the demand on Lovefilm for DVDs is actually very high, because we recall from our time with Amazon that despatch delays were minimal and that we often received two DVDs at a time for our £6.99p a month subscription.

Comparing the two (we don't know, though, if Amazon has changed its subscriber online account configuration) Amazon's was superior to Lovefilm's; we could see at a glance which title was on 'hold' because of demand, which was being prepared for despatch, and a timetable of what we had received and when we had sent it back. Much more user-friendly than the high / low / medium priority tagging Lovefilm has because this merely reflects your own requirements, rather than the supplier's real-time stock availability -- no point in being reminded on-screen of what you want; much better to know what you can have.

So now that we've acquainted ourselves with Lovefilm's DVD service, our preference is to return to Amazon -- regardless of any other considerations.

Yes but before the due date send all discs back and empty your basket so no more can be sent - then write to credit card to cancel and send a copy to
    lovefilm too.

I joined Lovefilm through Quidco and had 2 dvds then cancelled as I didnt want to incur any charges. Their terms stated that the 21 day trial strted upon receipt of an email from them or something like that and by the time 2 dvds had been sent and returned i was nearing the 3 weeks so i cancelled. The quidco money was later declined as I had not gone through to actually subscribe with them.

Earlier this year was with screen select and they were brilliant. got my films really quick, posted back and never lost one in 6months but if as a few people said its best to get proof of posting with lovefilm every time I send a film back it really defeats the object if I queque for 10 minutes every time I send one back.I would love to join another one but lovefilm seems to have taken over them all and they dont seem to be good at the moment.

According to my account my first dvd has been dispatched, i have removed all other titles from my list so when its returned it dosent send out another one , then i can cancell.

i did this trial through quidco but when i cancelled the day before the trial was due to end they declined my payment :(
