I am, too, regret that I registered with this company. I thought I followed every steps advice here .. return all the discs, wait for my account shown "no disc at home", after 11pm cancelled the membership, and the system informed me that it is successful. Seem like there is no problem .. wrong!
Next day, checked my statement, been charged £9.99. emailed LoveFilm to find out why. This is the reply ..."We have reviewed your account information and see that your account was cancelled on 13/12/2006. We would also like to inform you that we were notified regarding the lost of the last outstanding title on 13/12/2006 which was your billing date and consequently your account was already charged for the subscription fee."
So now they said there was one "outstanding title"? How can that be when it actually shown "no disc at home" when I cancelled. By the way, I joined on 29/11/2006 so next billing date is 20/12/2006 not 13/11/2006. I only received and returned 4 discs from/to them; not 6 discs yet. Nothing make any sense!
I don't even know if they really did cancelled my membership although I got confirmation email of the cancellation because in the reply to my complain email, they said ..."Please be aware that cancellations are only completed once all DVDs have been received. Until that time your account will remain active and billed as normal."
oh .. and this for a laugh ..."We apologise but would like to inform you that no refund would be possible at this point of time and we request you to enjoy our service you have already paid for."
What service!! 3 weeks Free trial start 29/11/06, received 4 discs within free trial condition, canceled on 13/12/06 and also been charged on 13/12/06 which I still have no idea what are they charged me for .. next month membership? which I canceled on the same day. Or outstanding title? which it shown there is none!
anyway, my credit card that registered with them will expired the end of this month so they can't take more money out , if they make more mistake. (am I right to think this way?) as long as I won't lose more money I don't actually care now, it is their lost since it seems their reputation is going down hill rapidly.0 -
danster wrote:hi,
my billing date is the 20th dec. today is the 15th and it says my next dvd is due to be delivered. hopefully i can quickly burn it and rush it back to lovefilm befor the 20th.
as a precaution to stop them from charging me, can i go to my bank and block any payments from my card to lovefilm? is this possible and is it illegal?
thanks
Talking of illegal, have you not read the responses to your last post about the illegal burning of DVDs? Or are you just deliberately trying to wind everyone up?

Are they learning something in respect of the Boots vouchers?
Ref:...We can confirm that your cancellation request has been processed and no further discs will be sent out to you.
Please note your account will remain active and billed normally until the discs are returned to us. We also recommend that you obtain a certificate of posting which is available from any post office. This will ensure you will not be liable for the cost of replacing any non-returned DVDs.
We would like to inform that it will take a minimun of 28 days for you to receive the £15.00 gift voucher from the day you joined LOVEFiLM.
Finally we would like to thank you for using LOVEFiLM and if at any time you wish to come back then simply login with your old details, and follow the link on the Home page to reactivate your account.

I've just been stung for a month's rental too. Like yourselves, I only signed up for the Boots voucher and made a note to call today, day 21, to cancel. However, they have told me that the payment has already been taken and the only option is to remain a member for another month and cancel FIVE DAYS BEFORE the due date. If this had been made clear in the original T&C's I would have called five days ago and saved my tenner! When asked about the Boots voucher, they said that it will be sent 30 days after I signed up ie in one week's time. Will have to wait and see....0
