I've just cancelled, today should have been my 20th day.
Checked account, 2 dvd's were received back on the 8th (No proof or Recorded Delivery - not likely  Might take a screenshot of this in case they try to be funny!). I'd already deleted the other dvd's in my list and I've not been charged so far :) I've received an email confirming my account has been closed.

If they do take money out of my account, I'll call my bank and tell them it's an unauthorised transaction and to refund the money back to me  I'll chase them in a week or so if I don't have any points on my advantage card or a voucher in the post :D
    The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

  • Just in case anyone was considering signing up to love film (there was an offer of a free trial with Boots I think on money saving expert), I really would advise you didn't!!

I signed up for the free trial which they then wouldn't honour as my code wasnt valid or something, so not only took a months membership fee from my card but more than they were supposed to (£14.99 rather than the usual £9.99).

They then refused to refund the extra £5 but offered to deduct it from my next payment. Fine I think, I probably would have signed up anyway. But did they deduct the difference? Did they buttons!! So after four 30 minute converstations to their call centre trying to explain the situation (over and over and over and over...) and them promising to look into the matter and call back I have heard nothing and am now £15 quid down!!

I am so fustrated I could cry luckily it was on my credit card so I have some hope of claiming it back but (as I really should have known better) if it sounds too good to be true it probably is!!!
  • Nichola:

    1) keep a few jotted down notes of your conversation and any email exchanges you've had with Lovefilth.

    2) report this asap to your credit card company as an unauthorised transaction and you should get the money credited back.

If everyone did 2) and the word spread around this company would soon be forced to mend its ways!

Nichola -- sorry to hear of your experience. Which Lovefees will no doubt wish to claim is an isolated case. Yeah. Right.

Edna's advice is as spot on as usual. But you actually need to make a more formal complaint, too:

    Trading Standards Department
    Ealing Council
    Perceval House
    14-16 Uxbridge Road
    Ealing
    W5 2HL

with a copy of it to:

    Andrew Ground
    Managing Director
    Lovefilm International Ltd
    No 9
    6, Portal Way
    LONDON
    W3 6RU

At base in every one of the cases reported on this thread, and elsewhere on MSE and elsewhere on the 'Net is Lovefees' "standard of trading".

Which seems. . . bloody appalling.

And exactly the kind of thing Trading Standards exists to police.

Don't forget, Lovefees has already been slammed by the Advertising Standards Authority. Yet it continues to draw in partners like Boots who witlessly lend their good name and reputation to enhancing Lovefees'.

Seems to me if the ASA can't get Lovefees to "mend its ways" (to quote Edna), and repeated complaints to Lovefees from individuals, on an individual basis, aren't resulting in much in the way of obvious improvement, then Trading Standards needs to be brought in.

Here is the link to the most recent ASA adjudication that codger refers to:
