Checked account, 2 dvd's were received back on the 8th (No proof or Recorded Delivery - not likely  Might take a screenshot of this in case they try to be funny!). I'd already deleted the other dvd's in my list and I've not been charged so farI've received an email confirming my account has been closed.
If they do take money out of my account, I'll call my bank and tell them it's an unauthorised transaction and to refund the money back to me  I'll chase them in a week or so if I don't have any points on my advantage card or a voucher in the post
  They've taken £12.99 out of my account.
Calling my bank about the unauthorised transaction! The £2.00 Coin Savers Club = approx £22.00  :j.. The 20p Savers Club = £17.80.

If the Board Guide is reading, perhaps others could be warned not to sign up to this deal, which is obviously not being honoured. They have taken the £9.99 from my bank account because I cancelled after 21 days (as agreed) and not 16 (as their 'own' rules appear to be) and my only option was to take another month and cancel on or before day 16. Will be furious if they try to mislead me again.0

I've read some of the posts above.
The two main complaints I've seen are both actually covered in my initial post (and i've just tweaked it to make them more obvious):
1. Some money may be taken as a verification check
2. The voucher won't come for at least 28 days (and we're not yet 28 days after the initial post, so I wouldn't expect anyone to have the voucher from this).
Having said that I have seen some others above.
I've already been talking to Love Film and if there continue to be other problems, or the company does not deliver on this offer or people are actually finding they're not getting their money back.
I will personally follow it up and try and ensure people get what is due. Yet I want to see it played through properly first and we're still within the 'set up the deal, get the DVDs' period rather than the cancelling period. So there's little to do before then.
However it is on my radar to follow through, and I've put it in my diary to make sure I check back to see everyone is sorted in the new year.

In a previous Lovefilm "FREE" Rental (earlier this year), I got charged as soon as they sent me my 7th DVD (was a 6 DVD/21 day trial). I had NO control over them sending me my 7th DVD and complained on the phone to a senior manager at Lovefilm who basically told me 'tough'.
Leaving aside the criminal operations of this disgusting company, the way to 'get round the charges' is to have your 6th DVD at home and THEN cancel AND REMOVE YOUR DVD LIST. THEN send the 6th DVD back to them.
On this recent Lovefilm FREE trial, I DID not get charged and the trial WAS cancelled.
So, how do we bring this to Martin's attention?0 -
Oh, right just seen Martin's post.:money:

Oh dear...i just signed up today as i spotted the offer in the weekly email, from reading some of your posts it looks like it isn't quite the offer its made out to be!
"Hopefully" all will be fine?
*Follow Up*
Well ive just cancelled my account, may be being overly cautious but too be honest i can't be bothered with all the hassle that everyone seems to be having, logged into my account and it says cancelled, also phoned my bank and asked them not to authorise any payments to lovefilm.com....hopefully i'll have no trouble with them!0 -
Martin: It's good of you to make a note of this issue amidst all the zillion other things which must be in your schedule(s). And yes, awaiting the outcome of the trial is sensible as the £15 Boots voucher was a co-equal component of the offer's appeal.
That said, so many complaints about this company's conduct have been raised both on these forums and elsewhere on the Internet that the question of voucher fulfilment must to some (including myself) seem well-nigh academic.
So although it's fair, and prudent, to "wait and see" where Lovefilms' voucher offer is concerned, I do think it would be similarly fair, and similarly prudent, to hold off on any further MSE publicity of Lovefilms or any of its offers.
Unless a nationwide conspiracy of prejudice exists against Lovefilms -- unlikely, given that highly critical posts have appeared, and are continuing to appear, both here and elsewhere from individuals who do not know each other -- a pretty persuasive volume of evidence has developed to suggest that the company suffers from serious systemic failures in both its contractual obligations and its customer communications.
That it has seemingly done nothing about either should surely counsel caution in any dealings with, or publicity of, its services and offers.
That it should be continuing, in blatant defiance of the Advertising Standards Authority judgment, to claim to offer subscribers "unlimited DVDs", may actually speak more loudly, and more clearly, of this company's ethos and conduct than any other single example.
As said, I hold little hope of my £15 voucher arriving. If it doesn't, I won't be surprised, though I will complain -- direct to Trading Standards.
What I certainly won't do, and can't imagine anyone else here so doing, is to hold you or MSE in any way responsible, because what appears here or in MSE news letters are merely opportunities to be explored and, if appropriate, exploited. They are neither recommendations nor endorsements.
This is the UK's best, brightest and most helpful financial reference resource in the UK. Long may it flourish. Merry Christmas, then, to its founder!

Actually I would be rather surprised if your £15 voucher doesn't appear (im sure some won't get it as with so many people that happens) but my assumption is people will get the voucher on the whole. In fact I spoke to Love film about it today!
So let's wait and see and cross fingers I dont need to do anything as it'll all work smoothly (and it's in my diary for the 2nd week in Jan to follow up)Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

Hi
Do you have to rent a DVD to get the Boots coupon. Can you just join, not rent, get the coupon, then leave?
What is Quidco?
Thanks0 -
Have a read through this thread if you're looking for details of the offer; many posters here will be the very last people to want to publicise it.
Quidco explains itself here:
