  • Some great achievements, especialling bearing in mind that most of us have sun and holidays.
My Easters were usually spent in one continous drinking binge.
At this point I have no idea how I'm going to tackle this but determined to make the change.

One day, one hour and even one minute at a time.

    Good luck.

It's probably not the right approach for everyone, but I got rid of all alc in the house - including giving some to visitors and chucking down the sink - therefore no risk of going to the alc without going to the shop (which is at least a car drive away.

A bit drastic perhaps, but it's working

    Hi May and welcome-1.gif

We set ourselves targets each month for the number of days that we want to be alcohol free. If you want to join in for the remainder of April then you could set a target of between 1 and 8.

Thank you for the welcome Beckseven, Lala and Mari..... and for the advice RecoveringAlcoholic and eca00opc... I'm starting to question why I'm waiting till May to get my drinking under control….and so…

Shaggy I would like to pledge to have 2 AFD in what’s left of April!!

There….I've done it (haha well I haven’t actually done anything yet other than publicly declare that I’m going to have a d*mn good go at this)

…and so the journey begins, thank you for helping me aboard x

    Hi All!!

Things haven't been too bad the last couple of days. We've been out and about quite a bit which has helped. MrR did make a bit of a t*t of himself last night while my parents were here, but my dad had turned up with 2 bottles of red which i was quite cross about . It was me that had to put up with the temper after they had gone. Surprisingly he was up and about at 9 this morning :)

Anyway, we are 3 days into a "curtain pole drama" in Little Bean's room. Who said DIY was easy............. :rotfl:

So pleased to see everyone doing so well over Easter!!

Welcome to the newbies :j. And thank you to those who have been on this journey for longer who share their experiences.:A

Hello Everyone. I have just got back from camping and was AF. Bringing me to 15 AFD please Shaggy. It was tempting to drink, but I was so glad I didn't when having to take the children to the toilet in the night and waking early every morning.

I don't know if anyone else has found this but I am managing stress and problems in a calmer and more positive way now. I seem to have more clarity and less anxiety. That is encouraging me to continue!

12 AFDS for me now. Not going to make my target this month of 21 but perhaps it was a bit over ambitious as I got 17 last month. Some of my days when I drunk I had half a glass of wine or just one so not as bad as it has been. DH came in and was annoying last night-I find him soo irritating when he's had a night out-I'm sure i'm just the same when I've had a few. last night tonight thank goodness but on the positive side it's meant I've drank 4 bottles of wine less than I would have normally-shocking when you write it down like that isn't it? Well done to all who have stayed af this weekend-such a tempting weekend to have a drink really. Well done may2013 for starting now. Mrs r glad you had a good weekend that wasn't too marred by mr r's drinking-my dh is short tempered when he has a lot to drink and I have to 'tip toe' around him to avoid a pointless row but thankfully it's only about once every two months he has that much.
