Morning everyone, welcome newbies and good luck issy with your AF day, you can do it, go for it.

LaLa, I know what you mean when you said earlier you think it was actually you setting the pace at the get togethers when you were drinking. Since I`ve not been drinking get togethers, family gatherings etc seem to be so much more pleasant, calm, relaxing and civilised. Its strange but we always think having that drink is going to relax everybody but in reality I think its makes everybody manic.

Msrainman, My husband said I was always narky and obnoxious when drinking red wine, he swears it is red wine that causes this and although at the time I contested this, now I`m not drinking I do see it in my MIL as she`s a red wine drinker and after a few glasses gets obnoxious.

Chloris, That calmer feeling you describe gets stronger and better as time goes on, before in a crisis I would always grab a bottle as I always felt "I need a drink after this", now in a crisis I`m saying "thank goodnes I dont drink, I would have handled this terribly if I was still drinking"

24 af for me please Shaggy

Back on the wagon at last. 1 more AF please Shaggy.

I feel for you issytm, it's hard work giving up a lifetime habit. My danger time is around 6pm too... the "you deserve it" habit kicks in and of course you get a better "buzz" on an empty stomach. I find that once I've eaten, the strong desire goes away so I either bring forward my mealtime to say around 6.30pm or drink copious amounts of tea until I eat. This has been the most successful trick for me but lots of people on this thread have great tips and suggestions. I really wish you all the best.

bearacus, thank you so much for running the school night challenge, can you add me to it please, I need to stay AF until May in order to hit my target!

    Thanks,

    Mari xx
  • 17 AFDs for me, please, Shaggy.

PLEASE ADD ME TO THE SCHOOLNIGHTS CHALLENGE LIST, BEARACUS, THANKS.

Not hot and sunny weather here, more normal - I'm actually relieved, because it takes one wine trigger out of the bank holiday! Like several others, I need to stay AF until May to hit my target ...

    Have a great day everybody

  • Hi
just wondered if I can join you all on this challenge. I gave up once for 2 months - it was a personal challenge. I'm not an alcohol freak or anything but since this last 16 months events it has become my 'companion' so to speak and actually I dont really like it. I'm not saying I will find this easy but would much rather some company whilst I give it one hell of a go. I plan to start today as easter has finished. And summer is coming. I want to feel healthier, lighter, and have more energy. I need to lose 7lbs and gain £100 so I can pay for my car tax. The plan is to go for the whole of May AF and hopefully see where I am then. I could just do with some moral support along the way...........
    Thx everyone
