Welcome TotallyInzane:) The SNC (School Night Challenge) is an excellent way of cutting-down. It's all too easy to just open a bottle at the end of a long day and the habit can be very hard to break.

Bearacus, I am full of admiration for you (and the others) going for a weekend challenge too. I won't be joining you myself but I will be cheering you on!:T

I've decided that next weekend when I go out with my friend (assuming I'm not driving after all) I will have a glass of wine but keep things in moderation.

I've been off work this week and have updated her website. She is a female businesswoman who has set up from scratch. I know she will be upset if she can't buy me a drink after helping her so much.

Being 60 days alcohol free now I know I can control alcohol and it doesn't control me so I feel I can have 1 night off with friends who enjoy drinking. 60 days was my own personal goal. It started 1 month and then became 2.

I rarely go out and my main problem drinking was sat at home watching TV thinking I needed alcohol to help me relax. Oh an Friday night when my partner is out. I like the previous comment "you can watch the Apprentice without a glass of wine"

My partner has given up smoking but didn't actually tell me till he was 4 days in. I wondered why this week off work has been argumentative and grumpy! I'm glad he's chosen to stop I just hope he can keep it up this time.

Please can I reduce my target by 1 day if that's allowed. I hope I'm not letting the thread down.

Oh and I'm 8 days Af for this month now, thanks Shaggy and everyone. This thread is so supportive.

Is Mrs R OK? Has she popped yet?

Sorry to hear about your bad throat mackeroo but hope the ice-cream did the trick!

Well done candygirl, every AF day counts!!

Good to see you posting Pen, hope you're OK?

:Tto everyone who's been AF tonight. Friday tomorrow:j

4AF for me please Shaggy and 4 for the SNC thanks Bearacus.

Hi Maman, I am doing ok, I think! Had many family ups and downs recently and a bit of nasty ill health but I'm finding my way through it.

DH, bless his heart, found some low alch wine tonight for me because its his b'day tomorrow and we knew family would be round and want a good session (they always do this thing the night before). I know there are some on here who think that its a cop out but it was nice to be able to have a glass and then put the kettle on without anyone asking questions.

So not really AF tonight but compared with the old 1 botttle at least a wine a night, I've done well and I feel good for it.

    Wishing everyone well, Pen x
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x

Hi Pen, as ever there's both cutters-down and givers-up on here and I hope we understand each other. As a long-time cutter down, I certainly know where you're coming from!

Kdenty, I'm with you all the way in celebrating with your friend. Of course you can reduce your target by a day. My worry was that you'd be angry with yourself.

Most of us (all?) are on here because we like a drink but we like it too much. If we could drink like 'normal' people we'd be happy. So if kdenty and Pen are having drinks with friends and family for a special occasion, that's 'normal'. I do understand that we have posters, friends and lurkers who find that giving up is the only way but for the rest of us , it's about being in control and being sensible.

Had a bit too much last night and felt a bit hungover this morning:( It's not a good feeling and one I haven't had for so long it came as a bit of a shock! Hopefully, it'll motivate me to be more sensible on a drinking day. At least I've had a cup of tea this evening when bottle would have been open at 6 o'clock on the dot usually!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.
