I do hope you're all ok. Just cos I'm not here any more doesn't mean I don't think of you all, cos I do.

xxGlad to hear things are going well for you :T
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.0 -
Hi, introducing myself and hope you don't mind me joining in. Have realised for a while now have been drinking far, far too much wine and really want to cut down and maybe even stop for a while. I'm almost 50 now, and only really started drinking like this in the last few years - a combination of less family responsibilities (kids grown so didn't need to drive them round etc), probably boredom and a bit of stress thrown in. But when I realised that a bottle of wine was becoming the norm rather than a treat - decided to take action. I have put on loads of weight, and my diet is generally OK so it is the wine. Have decided to cut down gradually over the next 2 weeks or so. I've been told that's best. So will keep drink diary and hopefully will soon be joining you in AF days. Won't admit all of this to anyone else, I'll just say I'm dieting which will explain me keeping a note of everything. Wish me luck, and I wish you all well
and please pop back and let us know how you are gettin on....

Another quick drop-in, I've come off the wagon, unintentionally but OH has proposed! I have a beautiful bit of bling and temptation got the better of me. I'm estatic and feeling in control, a few glasses although annoyed at myself but not going to beat myself up. XWhat do we do when we fall? ThanksI'm not really trying to drink less (iyswim) but I am trying to lose (serious amounts of) weight. I've lost 6 pounds so far but I seem to have hit a wall over the last few days
. Hopefully I'll do better today lol. Not easy, is it?!!!!

I'm not sure what to do.
I've been invited for a meal with a friend, in a few weeks, I helped with her business who has offered to drive so I can have a drink. There is a group of us going. Previously she has bought the drinks as a treat to us all. I don't mind splitting the bill to include paying my share of any drinks as soft drinks can cost as much anyway.
I don't want to be rude by having a lift and not accepting wine if she buys it.
I did tell her "oh don't worry about the lift I don't drink much nowadays anyway".
Her reply was "but you can relax more then, don't be silly, I drive past yours anyway"
I know if I drink I wont feel 100% in control of myself and I tend to be a bit gobby. I'm usually shy and quiet in groups.
Any advice?
Oh managed Af day 6 yeserday and only a few days off 2 months AF.0 -

:hello:Morning All!!
Good to see all the newbies getting off to a flying start :T
Posie flump - Thank you for your kind words. Brought a tear to my eye, although i'll blame my hormones!
Welcome to the thread Topaz12 :hello:
Congratulations Yoemma :jHow exciting!!!!!!! Was it a complete surprise or were you expecting it??
Not much to report. I'm on 2 cups of Raspberry Leaf Tea a day. Plus 2 sachets of Spatone and large quantities of orange juice to help with iron absorption. I think I've drunk so much orange juice this baby is gonna come out looking like an Umpa Lumpa :rotfl:
And now I'm off to do more washing and ironing of baby stuff. Who ever said that maternity leave is a time to rest and relax was lying!!!

well, didn't start very well - had an evening on my own - husband away on business, everyone one else out and about. Junk TV - so wine got opened and before I knew it, it was bed time and a bottle had gone! Think I will add loneliness to my list of reasons why. OH is often away on business and we recently moved far away from family (for various reasons). Anyway, I will try again tonight. Have decided I will tell OH about my wanting to cut down/quit - see if I can get his help with this. Don't want to go to doctor though - prefer to do this myself. Any hints and tips appreciated. Well done to all those who are doing well, and congrats on the engagement. To the person who was worried about going out and not drinking wine (sorry can't remember name, not used to using forums yet, I do apologise) - what about saying you're on antibiotics or something at the moment - or just say you've really lost the taste for it. Good luck.0

Morning all,
Yoemma - Woo hoo! how lovely. Congratulations!!
Welcome topaz12. I am exactly the same if I am home alone - the lure of crappy tv and wine go hand in hand somehow. Get that first night over and done with and I'm sure you will feel great and positive to carry on. I don't really have any tips as I am fairly new with the cutting down - personally though I find that being able to read in bed again has been my greatest re-found joy! If I feel the urge for wine is getting too strong I just decide to have an early night and start reading and my mind is soon distracted! (have been known to be in bed by 8.30pm some nights though! those blummin bells!!). Good luck xx
5 afds please shaggy
PF xx
p.s Did you know it IS actually possible to watch The Apprentice without wine?? that was a new one on me!0
