    8 please, Shaggy.

    Yes please, Mackeroo!!

Enjoy your weekend all. I'm working from home on a project, but not complaining, things have gone a bit slower at the moment!

DD1 (age 19) is home from uni and I'm going to really, really try to make an effort so we don't end up arguing - I hope she too is going to make the effort. I have such a great relationship with DD2 (age 17) and DD3 (age 15) , DD1 has been so bolshy/nasty over the past few years, but I think she's slowly growing out of it. Let's hope so.

Me please Mackeroo, for the four nights again! I had wine last night after all. Thought I'd done quite well having 4 small glasses compared to my usual bottle plus and then found out they were 4 x 175 ml = 700 ml so probably about 9 units.

Hi krackingtoast, good luck with your cutting down. I found that going to the pub and not drinking was different to what I thought it would be like. After the first half an hour or so I found I was less nervous but I found my friends talk more rubbish than I realised as they get drunk and if I'm sober I find it hard to stay out with them until kick out time as I realise I'm tired and need to go home. Try it and see how it is for you, even starting in stages can help, eg I started on a soft drink 'because I'm thirsty' (and actually often was!) and then maybe buying myself just a tonic if it was my round to skip two drinks over the evening. I've also used driving the next day as an excuse, taking painkillers, tried drinking something I don't like as much to slow me down. Mind you I can't claim to have any answers, and I'm at the pub tonight so all bets are off! Good luck with however you approach it! I think for me it's my mindset that makes the biggest difference. And also I think it's a bigger deal in my head than it is to most of my friends whether I drink or not that night.

    Good luck anyway!

I'm in Mackeroo, four days please.

I don't have any more AF days to add, as I had a glass of wine last night and one tonight. It was quite cheap white Austrian stuff and not very nice so that helped me to limit my intake.

Welcome krackingtoast, I know exactly what you mean by being a bit panicky in social situations without a drink. I've realised that actually I don't need to go out on the razzle so much and actually enjoy my own company too
    Trying to keep in budget.

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

What a great idea Shaggy - I'm going to give this a try!

This thread has been totally brilliant in helping me monitor my drinking days and totally fantastic for support. My speadsheet really helps me watch my units. My speasheet has a weekly average and a monthly average so if it starts creeping up I can't kid myself. I think ths helps me 'cos if I'm not thinking about what I drink I tend towards the "little but often" kind of drinking....

I have been doing my alcohol spreadsheet/ diary for 2 years in October and it has thrown up some interesting patterns.
