    hey everyone,
Back from my little break away :)Only went to wales with the hubby but really nice to get away for a few days.
I wasnt AF Thursday as I had 1 small glass of rose with a meal whilst out. However, that is the only drink I had :T.
We went out every night (bar/ restaurant) and I stuck to diet coke and hubby drank ciders. This little break has actually made me realise 1. I dont need to drink on holiday 2. I dont need to drink when I m in a pub 3. I actually am more fun/confident without a drink. We got up and out everyday and i loved it :)
right will go update the challenge - well done everyone and I will be doing a challenge this week :T
Forgot to say 11 AF please shaggy x

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Long long time no speak. Most won't have a clue who I am but I recognise a couple of names!

Today I opened up to someone about the fact that I hadn't drunk in 19 months odd. They asked me if I had done it on my own and I replied that I had been part of an internet forum.

Was thinking about it more later and relaised that I didn't do it alone I did it due to all you guys past, present and future!

So I logged on to say a quick THANKS. XX

Hope everyone is where they want to be.

:hello: Well done and thanks for popping back to let us all know how you are doing :j :T

    Hi there,

I remember you, well done on 19 months, that's really good. I just logged in to check in for the first time in a couple of months and couldn't read and run when I saw your post!! Well done!!

Since I stopped posting on here I've been adjusting to having a new job with a much longer commute and I've been very tired. I have gone overboard on drinking on weekends/bank holidays but not during the week now I'm driving each day. I wanted to let you all know I was still alive and still doing about the same on the boozing, so there's still room for improvement!

I'm not sure if I'll be able to log-in on here regularly in the coming weeks and months but I am thinking of you on here from time to time and wish you all good luck with this.

    :hello: Pop back soon :)

Thank you!! I had a look on the website this morning. And I 've been googling stuff as well. With only 10 weeks to go I know I need to start being more forcefully, but I also know that he will only stop when he wants to.
He makes me sad that I log on here most days and see how well you guys I doing, adding another afd each day, and I log on and add up the units drunk the night before, (23 thursday night, 26 last night, so that's 70 in 3 days). Letting it out on here as been a bit of a lifeline as I know you guys won't judge as you all realise how hard it is.
Just wanted to say thank you!!!

    MrsR xx

That must be heart breaking for you to watch Mrs R. My brother smokes and it makes me feel really really sad sometimes :(

Not posting often these days, but this thread gave me so much support when I decided to stop drinking and I thought of it today on my second AF anniversary (see sig).

For me, being AF follows 30 years of drinking too much and unsuccessful attempts to reduce my intake. I've learned that failing a lot of times doesn't mean failing forever!

:j Congrats on your AF Anniversary :j

Good morning all, thank you for keeping score as ever Shaggy. 15 afd for me.
Lots of reflection yesterday about my families behaviour towards DS new girlfriend. I emailed them all and said that it was a pretty poor show - for those of us who behaved badly and those of us who let it go unchallenged. The responses have been interesting but have mainly missed the point. hey ho.
I was reading an earlier post about a book dealing with dysfunctional families, I sure beleive I am part of one, not just because of the antics at the weekend.
I think I would like this dysfunctioning to stop within the relationship that I have with my own children. the wider family can do as they wish, but I would like the members of Evolution Cottage to realise that there are other ways of doing things.
With the help of this forum, I have seen that patterns of behaviour can change. It simply starts with the desire to do so. I will be eternally grateful for this forum, none of my family or friends have embraced nor supported my changes, which is very sad. One of my friends actually stated that he wanted the old me back. That's more to benefit him really, as my changing forces him to question himself, and perhaps he is not liking what he has seen.
ah well, those are my musings for today. Feeling a little sad at the widening chasm between me and my siblings, and a little scared as I have a follow up appointment at the hospital today.
off for a morning swim to clear my head.
    Have a great day everyone.
