    Hi Everyone
    8 AF please Shaggy
Just a quick post as heading off to work soon. Was Af on Sat, 1st time out in company and sober, it was okay but the night didnt half go slow, we left at 12.30 but to be honest i could have left 2 hours before that. Must learn to be more tolerant. Then rewarded myself for not drinking on Sat by drinking on Sun eve, something i havent done in ages and then came home last night half bottle of wine in the fridge so guess what....yip finished it. We are going away for the weekend with a pile of DH's family, looking forward to it but i seem to have slipped into holiday drinking mode 5 days early:eek:
    Must get my act together

    Morning All

7 AFD's for me please Shaggy and 1 for the SNC please Bearacus.

Hope everyone has a good day especially those who are having a tough time of it right now x

All three of us are on 7AF at the moment . I'm going to have a big push too. I reckon on about another 12 days I can manage this month with only moderate drinking (by my standards:o) on the others. If I can get over half a month AF I'm happy, such a difference from the 'bottle a night, every night' I was doing before joining this lovely thread.

Good luck fellow 7-up people!! And good luck to those with much more challenging targets, and givers-up.:A

I also know that a blip does not a catastrophe make.
    :T
In my current emotional state previously I would be drinking loads, smoking, spending and causing arguments with all and sundry. Well I no longer drink or smoke, I can feel my spending increasing and instead of rowing with the family, I have written 2 complaint letters on behalf of others. At times it seems like a pitiful attempt at gaining power back in my life, which always made me question why I felt powerless. Alcohol sure does funny things to the mind.

I could do with an effective strategy to curb my spending, I may go back to the spending diary and cash only technique that I used to use. ebay is my best friend at the moment, so may have to suspend my account.

Not going into the office today, I was only due in for half a day, booked myself on a singing course this afternoon, as it's adult learners week. I haven't sung for years, apart from in front of the bathroom mirror or in the car. Great stress relief.
DS2 is currently feeling a bit more positive about his GCSE exams, I gave him a special pen that has all of the answers to every exam question in it. He came home last night and said the paper was a breeze.
Have a great day, best of luck with your challenges.
    DM

A pen that knows all the answers, I want one!!!!

What a lovely post DM, great to hear you taking control and starting to enjoy life.

I don't think helping people to write assertive letters is sad at all. I think it shows you've created space in your life to do things you're good at/enjoy instead of just spending all your spare time with a glass in your hand. Have a great time at your singing course.

I'm now on my 8th alcohol free night. :j

The weekend wasn't as bad as I thought. I bought some lovely fruit smoothies as a treat with the groceries instead of a bottle wine.

    Hello all!

Wasn't intending to pop on this week but just flitted in, saw post from BHB and had to see what else was going on!:rotfl:

First day off today and had lovely day - blitzed house so it really sparkles now ;) and even managed a good half hour at the library. Sounds sad but normally I get 5 mins before I pick Piglet up from school. I love my books so today was a real treat!:o

Prob won't get on here tomorrow - plans are...trip with mum to Millets Farm in Oxfordshire...lovely garden centre and amazing farm shop. Am so looking forward to it!:T Will stock up on fab fresh veg and fruit. And maybe a bottle of local wine :o

Hope you are all doing well. Mrs R - I pray you are getting through to Oh!

    Miss P
    xx
