Thank you for your words Maman, the singing course was great, a real mixed bag of people. we finished off by marmalizing a Beatles song. The buzz continued all day. I managed to bag myself an interview for some casual work. I popped into a new independent shop and schmoozed the manager. I also bumped into someone I used to teach with. He used to teach tailoring, and has offered a few refresher sewing sessions. I can then alter all of the clothes that have been sat in a bag waiting paitiently for a year. I even bought a sewing machine last year that has been out of its box twice. I felt quite inspired by him, he now works part time in Tesco in order to get through his MA. He has given up the security of a well paid job in order to follow his passion.
The day ended with me being given the opportunity to have a stall at 2 upcoming events in June and July. Life certainly is on the up.

BHB, well done on your continued success. Mrs R, Mr R will stop when he is ready to admit to the real reason why he drinks. He may not even be aware of the reason, or may just not be in a position to share it with you. You can only take care of you and the new life you are nurturing.
Have a great Wednesday y'all and stay focused on your challenges.

Hi Folks!
Well, its just over 5 weeks since I last drank. It feel like a LOT longer.
I went to a friends last night for a catch up. I drank a fizzy fruit drink and my friend drank wine. I could smell the wine really strongly and am pleased to say that it didn't appeal to me at all. More worryingly is that I would have usually have stayed until about 10.30ish but was texting my DH at 8pm saying that I wanted to go home! I was home by 9pm despite my friends protests. I talked to DH when I got back - I just struggled for converstation with my friend, I'm a bit concerned that we have nothing in common other than getting drunk. I just wanted to get home to my PJ's and Kindle. What has happened to me? I was so happy when I got home. Have I become unsociable? I am usually arranging our weekends - who's coming over for drinks; who's are we going to for drinks - I'm now happier staying in on our own watching Saturday night tv.
I have more energy, my skin and eyes are clear and my state of mind is so positive.
I've applied for a couple of jobs (mine ends in September) and am feeling ok about that. I'm taking a more "one door closes, another opens" approach and seeing it as an opportunity for me. Although its a good job the holiday in August is already booked - we might have to wait a long time before any other break. The thing is that I know we will be ok, no matter what - we could live in a mud hut if necessary!
Love to all

I am genuinely happy for you. It sounds as though 5 weeks is a turning point.
I am not convinced you have become unsociable, perhaps you now want to socialise in other ways that don't involve sitting around and chatting sheeite and listening to other peoples yabba yabba after a few glasses! Have you got any old hobbies that you used to like doing before you got into the drink habit?
It sounds as though you are using the more energy and positive frame of mind well. That new job is just waiting for you. The fact that your skin looks great will serve you well at the interview.
Keep on LalalNothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task

If I can get over half a month AF I'm happy, such a difference from the 'bottle a night, every night' I was doing before joining this lovely thread.
Maman - I couldn't agree more. I'm quite new to this (3 weeks) and like you I'm also working to the principle of making it through half the month AF. So far so good!!
