I am not going to feel bad for protecting my child, unfortunately the world is full of sick people so if i feel unhappy with something then i will question it. Its better to be safe than sorry. child molesters, murderers etc do not go around advertising themselfs so unless us 'drama llamas' question things and report things then they would all be walking free to do as they please.
As i have said i am not saying this man is doing anything wrong i am just expressing my concern as no one knows what this man could be doing, yes he could be filming to protect his property but until i know this for sure i am not going to assume this is all he could possibly be doing.
When you say you are "protecting" your child, what are you actually attempting to protect them from?
Possibly being filmed, even though they are unaware of it?
If you get your way, no-one will be able to use a camera anywhere, ever again, "just to be on the safe side, what if something happened".
Offences against children are very rare, but when they happen they are far more likely to be carried out by someone known to them. They are more likely to come to harm in the park by getting hit by a swing while you are staring at the worried OAPs camera.0 -

example only - if your in a park and see an adult watching a child, the parents are with the child but dont notice the adult, later that child gets snatched. would you not feel bad thinking you could have maybe prevented it by questioning it beforehand...
i know people think its stupid and over reacting but i am not willing to let something happen before doing anything. if all is innocent then there is no problem
I believe that your friend has "reported" the cameras to the council and police. Thats fair enough if you have genuine concerns, I just hope that if you find out that there are no problems with the cameras you also apologise to the householders for any inconvenience caused.0 -
you can't live your life thinking that there is a monster round every corner

That's not going to happen is it.
It'll be investigated, but the "old man" will have "fobbed off" the council with "some excuse".0 -

So, as he's been caught and convicted it must be a few years back.
So, he had a phone camera that could film up to 50m away and get decent video of fully clothed kids playing a few years back? That must have set them all off.
All the stuff about him relaying info to "others" about it being a "relaxed area" etc could have been done without any video at all, so what does a video of the area add that google maps and streetview can't?
None of that adds up. Have you got a link to your local paper reporting on the story? :cool:0 -
My word those swings must be very close to his house if they are only 3 feet away.
I thought it was an upstairs window?
Are the swings very high then?
not once have i said it was an upstairs window, perfect example of the people on this siteWins for 2011: ........................
