Filming kids in park

This thread just makes me depressed about how paranoid and messed up this country is about anyone looking at a child for a second and they're instantly branded peado's by brain dead people,
I remember a woman in my store about a year ago, she demanded to see the store manager and no-one else absolutely hysterical but wouldn't explain what the problem was to anyone, i rushed down spoke to her and she demanded i ring the police and detain a man because he was following her and looking at her daughter, when i explained that he hadn't actually done anything wrong she wouldn't accept it and started ranting about him being a peado and it took a good 20 minutes to calm her down (not by me i'd left the aisle by then in total disbelief) the fact the stores are set up so people tend to walk the same way (customer flow) just flew over her head,
There's a million and one reasons why whoever lives in the flat/house has a camcorder/cctv, they could be doing anything from recording wildlife at night to recording any anti social behaviour from teenagers loitering at night-drug deals when all the children (probably prey in your eyes OP) are safely tucked up in bed.0 -
You can never just assume that if there IS a camera, that it's operated by an 'old man,' or that it's even pointed AT the children.
There's lots of CCTV at my local park... I dread to think what the security people are doing in their secret pervert booth.
Probably paying no attention to it and instead watching Beverly Hills Cop for the 100000th time.
Either that or The Davinci Load, lol.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
exactly why some people should not be let out in public

Message to really thick people, kiddy fiddlers do not normally list it as their job occupation.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -

example only - if your in a park and see an adult watching a child, the parents are with the child but dont notice the adult, later that child gets snatched. would you not feel bad thinking you could have maybe prevented it by questioning it beforehand...
i know people think its stupid and over reacting but i am not willing to let something happen before doing anything. if all is innocent then there is no problem
I think you are overeacting here!
Most child abuse happens in the home, there are not perverts on every corner, very few (if any) 'child snatchers' have set up CCTV before abduction, and if this guy wants to use a camera, then that's his business.
If you're that worried, keep the kids indoors all the time.
It'll buggar their childhood up, but they won't get snatched by anyone. :wall:
I'ts paranoics like you that have made it so uncomfortable, and sometimes impossible, for doting grannies and grandads, like me and DH, to take pics of our grandchildren in public places, such as lido's and school concerts.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
but the thing is the world is NOT full of sick people.
The vast vast majority of people in this world are kind decent normal people, there are a minority who aren't that nice and an even smaller minority that are downright evil.
If you look at it that way then statistically the person with the cameras on the front and back of his house is much more likely to be one of the kind decent people than the nasty or evil ones and you have nothing to be worried about.
No one is saying you shouldn't have your childs welfare as your priority, but don't go round thinking that the world is full of sick people because it really isn't. You have to keep things in perspective.
Very intelligent and sensible post. Yes there are terrible people out there, but the world is not full of them, and to assume the worst just because someone has a camera is the worst sort of jumping to conclusions.
It's not sensible caution, it's ignorant paranoia. Nice people need to stand up to the hysterical and paranoid, it's part of being nice: Thank you for being nice and thoughtful.0 -
The solution is to ban all males from within 6 miles of any school, nursery or home.

but there is a fine line. Consider that if an ill intended person want to record children they have a variety of tools to hide the cameras. I consider that that camera is shown as a deterrent for ill intended youths. Just because someone have a camera does not make them bad guys. Get a rest! pedophiles are more sophisticated that you might think; they will try to hide their traces not display them for anyone to see.
I am a parent and I agree that we have to be vigilant but, not paranoid.
And yes, before anyone says I am aware that if you have cameras recording public spaces you will need to display warnings, but only if they are operational, continuously and/or automatically recording.
For what you know it can be a dummy camera0
