Please comment on our listing (Spanish Property)

As the title says!

Our next move is to sell our Spanish house (we have had it eight years this year) - although it is lovely and we love the village and the people, it was never meant to be a permanent move and we already do half and half. We don't want to live here if we are old and frail, nor do we want to have to undertake the sale and move in that state.

Our Spanish house is great, but it has three floors, three sets of stairs, large rooms and three more bedrooms than we need. So last week we put it up for sale so that we can move on to the next step of our lives.

    It looks lovely!

Sorry I can't offer any constructive help, but there seem to be plenty of photos of reasonably good standard and detailed text, so hope you have a buyer soon :)

  • Thanks summerday, I hope so too, although the housing market in Spain is pretty dire at the moment , especially with Brits, because of the exchange rate.

It is lovely and I think if we have one serious buyer through the door they will buy it. We're hoping the address will encourage people as Gerald Brenan is very popular in these parts, he was the first British expat to live here in the 1920s and he wrote a book about Yegen which is still selling now (South from Granada). He was a member of the Bloomsbury group and rubbed shoulders with the likes of Virginia Woolf and Lytton Strachey, who both visited him here in Yegen, rode on donkeys and used toilets that were just a hole in the floor into the stable below. :)

I was really nervous about putting the link on the forum, I thought loads of people would slag it off, so thanks again for a nice first reply. :)

I think your house it lovely 7DW, and the views are just spectacular , the pics are great the only thing I would say is I'd like to see the kitchen and bathroom if I was seriously thinking of taking a look with a view to buying.. I can only imagine how hard a decision thats been for you to make but I do understand your reasoning.. I'm interested in what you'll be doing next? Good luck with the sale by the way..

Hi Tanith, we hasn't got any pix of the kitchen when we did the listing, but my husband has taken some today and they will be on shortly! Take on board your point about the shower room (no bath).

I've said a bit about what we are hoping to do next in the SKI-er's thread on the Over-50s board. :)

    Thanks for your input.

Are you posting on a popular website, like rightmove. Who are your target audience...which nationalities etc.
No mention of facilities in village eg shops, schools, public transport, doctors, dentist. Who is going to show people round the property. Do you have a floor plan. Where can you park your car. Distance to airport. Have a look at overseas properties on rightmove for France and Spain. Try to work out why certain descriptions are useful and make you want to consider a particular property. Have you tried advertising in local newsagents at home.

The house looks really lovely OP and well photographed. How I wish I was there now looking out at those views. There doesn't appear to be anywhere or room to park a car outside, and this would be an issue for me if it had to be kept a long way off.

Gas, water, electicity, sewage, taxes details? Pic of garden would help and also a shot of the village itself.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Right , at the moment we only have it on this local area website so they know where the airports are, but agree we should mention them when it goes elsewhere. We intend to 'network' it in the UK too and also in Holland. We will add this information when we do.

Car Parking - important (and there is a place to park, not designated but no-one else ever parks there), just down the hill from the house.

It says at the bottom of and in the the listing that there is mains electricity and water. We have mains sewage and will add this to listing. No-one in this part of Spain has mains gas.

Facilities, yes, important, will add them.

We have no land, so no garden (pretty standard for these mountain villages).

We have a picture of the village to add.

    We will show people round.

    Thanks all for your input.
