Hi everyone I am struggling big big time! Just wondered if anyone here from Northern Ireland is doing an eating plan called Eat to Live by an American doctor called Dr Joel Fuhrman. I had attempted it for 4wks and got a stone off and also greatly improved a lot of health issues. I have since digressed somewhat but would love a buddy who is maybe following the same eating plan. Just took the chance of asking here hope you don't mind.
Thanks0 -
My first post in this thread (I think!!)
Came home from Belfast shopping yesterday in tears as nothing would fit me - shopping for a dress for a few weddings I've coming up. I was trying to be all MSE and wear one from last year but they were too tight
So thats it - I'm tired of being depressed after a shopping trip. I want to stop opening the top button of my trousers to give me a bit of room. I want to look good in a dress, and not hide everything under a tent. I want to feel comfortable in myself and not feel jealous of all my "thin" friends.
I've signed up to a free diet log and calorie counter to keep an eye on my weight, and I hope to use this thread as a tool to keep me motivated.
Went to a boxercise class tonight and have been good with my food today. I would need some guidance with what food to avoid, obviously all fatty things lol!! but the like of breads and potatos etc, would I need to stay away from them? BRead would be ok...not too sure about the potatos and pasta - I like a good dinner!!!:D Tis prob what got me in this mess in first place!!
Today's weight: 10st 10lbs (THis is my heaviest ever - I'm only 5ft 1" so mildly overweight)
Target weight: 9st 4lbs (I remember I thought this was heavy about 6/7 years ago...how naive I was)
Target date: Christmas 2012 (I think this is about 1lb a week, allowing for slip ups)
Anyway shower now after my class, will log back in a few days and see how I'm getting on.;)

skea65, I thought the same a few years ago, I was just over 8st ha ha!!
I was 10st 7lbs at my heaviest... currently 9st 8.5lbs with my wedding 19 days away eek!
Low carb is very effective but I find that I can't keep it up for too long. Slow release/unrefined carbs are better and sustainable. Good luck xx7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

skea56, slimming world encourage you to eats spuds and pasta so if you like big dinners give them a try, it really works. I have lost 5 stone in total and can vouch for the plan.
but like belfastgirl23 i am so off the wagonI am just going through an awful time financially at the minute and the source of comfort i am getting is from food and at that i mean JUNK food. why oh why can we not binge on fruit and veg!?!?!?
i am up a size already through this comfort eating and am disgusted with my appearance but i know that i just have to ride this out and get it out of my system. It is so easy to put weight on but losing it is the hardest thing ever.0 -
One more little snippet, have you ever wondered why you reach for the junk food instead of a celery stick when you overeat.
The reason is really quite simple...you are hardwired by evolution to seek out salt, sugar and fat in times of stress,as it supplies a quick energy boost to the body.
Unfortunately today we are not living in caves and we have not evolved far enough to a point where that response is no longer an issue, the good news is that response can be modified to meet modern day existence and you can find out how by using the link below ( there are 10+original articles so you might have to search a bit )
I hope that answers your question....if you want to know more about how to get your mind involved in your weight loss efforts go to my expert author ezines page which i will be updating on a regular basis and in the tradition of moneysaving its ...FREE.

If this is against the rules of the forum please feel free to delete, but just before you do I would like you to know that these expert hints and tips have been used by myself to keep 60lbs of weight off for four years, and are not some rubbish copied and pasted from the web
I hope you all get some use from them.0 -
I'm gonna join in here, I've lost 2stone 6lbs since February, still have a long way to go thought!
I'm following SW on my own and going to the gym 5/6 times a week!0 -
Well done pickledsj and welcome. wow that's nearly 2 and a half stone, that's an amazing loss, well done!!
I'm actually doing pretty good at the minute tooI'm at my lightest weight since records began
or at least I've been monitoring my weight since this July 2003 and this is the lightest I've been in that time period. Another stone or so should see me where I want to be.
How's everyone else getting on??0 -
