  • Sounds like we're all struggling a bit - I'm the same now as I was at the start of the month pretty much but I've gained and lost a couple of lbs in that time so it depends how you count it. If I could only lose without the gaining life would be a lot better! Angela and Arkonite, don't ever give up because once you do the weight crashes on fast, at least this way you're gaining slowly. And if you think about it, say you gain half a lb a week for the next ten weeks that leaves 5lb on. But if I totally relax on things I would put on at least 1 if not 1.5lb per week. So in the end, both ways you've gained, but if you totally stop trying you've gained a stone, if you keep trying half heartedly it's maybe 5lb. I know neither are ideal but one is still a lot better than the other!! Sometimes you need to focus on damage limitation.

Tonight I went to bed at 9pm because there's a bar of chocolate in the cupboard, DH is away, and it was calling to me. So burglar alarm on and into a bath to get away from it. Kind of proud of my willpower :)

I really really want to see my pre holiday weight!! All I need is to stop putting food in my mouth to achieve this. Sounds easy doesn't it.

Cookie, how's the ankle? And well done on the 2.5lbs beanrua :T:T:T you can be this week's inspiration

Great post belfastgirl - so logical and positive -thank you - I have read your post a few times and I think it deserves to be read at regular intervals because it is so sensible and encouraging -I might just print those words of wisdom and read them on days when I am stalling or have an extra pound or so on -but oh dear - I really don't feel anything like an inspiration right now- your trust in me may be misplaced!! I am having an Irish coffee right now - figured it was low carb - with Splenda instead of sugar!!!
One thing I have noticed is that weight fluctuates ie down 2 up 1 or up 2 down 1 etc etc - I notice this because I weigh myself everyday and then one day you have lost 2 or 3 lbs but if you weigh once a week you may miss the loss day - if you understand. Anyway I think we are all doing our best and we can't do more than that. I am going away on Monday until Thursday and am planning ahead to make sure I stick to plan about what to eat and still enjoy myself. The good thing about a low carb eating plan is that I do not find it too restrictive at all and can always get something off the menu to suit me. We all have our own way of doing things and that's ok as we are all different - whatever is best for you is the right way.

  • Hello everyone, I just want to say that I agree with Beanrua, your post Belfastgirl is really logical and helpfull. I log in here everyday to see how we're all doing and I've read your post several times and I really do agree with you. And I guess thats were I am at the moment, damage limitation:rotfl:Thats my new mantra, I love it.

Well I've not been too bad so far this week, but my monday weigh-in will tell the tale:cool:. Still no counting syns or calories for me, just cutting down on the chocolate and sweet stuff. Yup that'll do for me for now.

Beanrua enjoy your trip away, post and let us know how you're doing, and yes you are an inspiration. No pressure there then:rotfl:.

    Healthy eating folks. Angela
  • Thanks guys for the kind words, I'm sort of in damage limitation myself at the minute :) had a bit going on over the weekend and got something tonight where it would be very easy to throw caution to the winds. I'm gonna take the car at least so that if I do lose control I can't blame the alcohol! I'm really feeling the need to watch myself closely as this is the stage of weight loss where i usually think 'stuff it' and put it all back on again. This is a weight where I feel much more comfortable, I fit into my smaller clothes, I can wear heels without feeling my feet are about to drop off etc. But I really do need to lose more. According to the ideal charts I should probably lose another stone and a half. But I do a fair bit of sport so I want to see where I am about 10lbs from here. Still got this goal in mind for christmas. So I can buy some new clothes in the Jan sales in true MSE style.

I wore a size 14 skirt yesterday and my size 14 trousers now zip up on me - albeit they are hilarious looking.

Off to work out an exercise and eating plan for the week ahead. And then heading to the gym and maybe even for a swim as well. Good luck everyone.

Oh and am 1lb down so just 2 to go for my end of month goal. Well probably more like 1.5 actually :)

I think we're all doing ok - and I love reading how others are getting on - it's always useful to pick up little tips and ways of dealing with trying to lose weight eg meal plans, exercise etc etc. I have a firm feeling we will all be thinner by Xmas - and I mean THIS Xmas.
My car is in garage, was leaking fuel so I've had to do a fair bit of walking this week, have noticed it was easier getting up hills now. I am .5lb off my second target and 7.5 off my end target so I'm not going to relent now. I like this feeling of being more comfortable in my clothes. I'll see you in the sales belfastgirl!!!! I exercise a little bit - I just dance or skip or jump up and down or run up and down the stairs when the ads are on TV - or if I'm feeling energetic I do it from one ad to another!!! Called ad exercise!!!
Off to pack and sort things out. Stay strong and focused - as I said we're doing great. Cooki - where are you -how are you doing?

  • :rotfl:Loving the 'Ad exercise' routine you've got going on there Beanrua:rotfl: For me its 'Ad Housework'. Did you know that its possible to do the dinner dishes during the ad in Emmerdale:j

Weigh-in tomorrow morning, update you all then:)

I never even thought of doing housework during the ads - so I could get thin and have a tidy house at the same time!!!! Now that's what I call multi tasking.

    Hi all,

Please forgive me for noseying in but been trying recently to shed weight and feel I need a little more inspiration of kick in the BS.

I had a baby 6 months ago and have lost 1.5 stone since giving birth but really need to lose another 1.5 stone but would be happy with 1 stone to bring me back to my pre baby weight. When I am good I am good but when I am bad I am VERY bad. I find that my hormones and mood is all over the place lately so its so too easy to reach for the biscuit tin once LO is in bed. I try to get out walking with our pram but hmmm the weather isn't great:( and I have been trying to go to spin classes in our local gym but sometimes when we have had a bad day at home I really can't cope with leaving the house. I would love to find classes that I could excercise with my baby during the day while DH is at work - don't think they exsist.

I am determined to lose my baby weight to allow me to wear my pre baby work clothes when I return to work as in true MSE style I don't want to fork out on a new wardrobe for work.

If anyone has any tips please feel free to give me them.

    Thanks.

  • Hi Mypie, welcome, its great to have you on board:)

I lost 21lbs last year and have since put 7 lbs back on  and cannot get seen to get started again:( But I keep on posting because I'm in damage limitation mode, and at least I'm not gaining. So as you can see tips and advice I cannot offer as I not very successful at this:cool:

We're a friendly bunch and delighted to have another member in the gang:rotfl:

Well, weigh-in today for me, no loss/gain so thats ok. Cant imagine how much I'd put on if I actually gave up altogether so going to continue to plod on.

My target for this week is not a weight loss target, but a target to plan my meals better. Ummm - now what shall I have tonight??????????

Chicken breast, potatoes and steamed veg. Yum!
  • Mypie I think if you've lost a stone and a half already post-baby with all of that stuff going on, you should be giving us tips!!

    Welcome :)
