Aww, it's so lovely when you finally get your own car, and you have so much more freedom! I bought my first car two years ago when I was learning to drive, she's a little jade green micra (called Jasmine, lol). I still love her, but am looking to get a new (ish) car in the next month or so as I doubt she'll last much longer - she was on old banger when I bought her, and she ain't getting any younger!
What kind of car are you thinking about getting?czerniacha wrote: »Another question re eating: should I avoid dried fruit(prunes/apricots mainly)? Not that I eat a lot, but was thinking a small bag for an "on the go" snack or adding some when cooking? what do you think? are they too sugary? TIA
Personally, I see dried fruits in the same way that I do sweets. Yes, they are fruit, so probably have some health benefits, but they have all of the water zapped out of them so what you are left with is mainly sugar.
The size of them also makes it really easy to over eat - Apricot bags have 5-10 pieces in them - can you imagine eating 10 apricots in one go? I used to eat a lot of dried fruit myself, but wouldn't touch it now when I think about it like that.
If you are looking for something similar to eat on the go then I'd say go for nuts and seeds as they are a good source of protein, are filling, and contain 'good fats'. Either that, or just take the fruits as they are, and have a little bag for the rubbish (I buy little freezer bags really cheaply from Tesco that are the perfect size ).
Well I am pretty annoyed this morning as it's a totally undeserved 2lb gain! I've been better with my diet this week than I have for a while and have really made an effort, so I'm not too pleased. Maybe the lack of exercise hasn't helped, but my diet alone should have equated to at least a 1 lb loss.
I've decided to start weighing myself more than once a week again as I found that I understood my results better, and didn't get so disheartened when I gained, as I would usually know where it came from. I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow/fri and will hopefully see a better result!0 -
STS for me this week I think - I really need to start writting down the previous weeks results!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

That's an loss of 1.4 kg since last Wednesday morning. which is exactly loss of 3.1lbs. i was totally surprised but happy too.
Stop the chocolates and biscuits. You don't need them. Most chocolates contain a lot of sugar. Biscuits are just sweet rubbish really. I do acknowledge that some people find it hard to stop the 'biscuits with a cuppa' habit. A few of the ladies at church tell me they really need to lose a bit, at the same time as they're having a cuppa with a biscuit...or three.
What you're used to eating may be similar to how we were a generation ago - a lot of stodgy 'filling' food to keep us going through a day at work and walking/cycling everywhere. It didn't do any harm because we burned it all off. I can't really comment because I don't know enough about the type of food you're describing - although I would have thought that deep-fried anything is an absolute no-no. And also a lot of white rice - brown unpolished rice is better for you. White rice is just pure starch.

Thanks ladies(?) for the answers but now I'm totally confused  Eric? lol
Was thinking about nuts/almonds but it's as well hard to stop and they have lots of calories don't they? Guess I'll have to think of something else...0 -

I knew it will happen as I really need to improve everything foodwise...
Proud of my exercise though and will definitely keep going...
got some of the protein powder and will try to use after gym when I don't fancy a "big" dinner... However I suspect my boyfriend will have more of it then I...
Anyway I feel really good and fitter as well...
Another question re eating: should I avoid dried fruit(prunes/apricots mainly)? Not that I eat a lot, but was thinking a small bag for an "on the go" snack or adding some when cooking? what do you think? are they too sugary? TIAmargaretclare wrote: »72.9 kg today. we need to understand that your body weight fluctuates a lot over the day naturally by up to +/- 1lb / 0.5kg
so 0.1 is fine, and a STS is fine0 -

i eat 40g of almonds with my lunch at work
nuts are a very good nutritional dense food source
ideally work them into some other food as a garnish such as a salad or a breakfast meal, i sometimes put flaked nuts on yoghurt as a desert0 -
hey mazza - i am in the same boat as you, put loads back on recently
Day 1 yet again hey!?!

Lost 1lb this week, which I am pleased with as was staying with relatives at the weekend and avoided the shepherd's pie and pasta but did have some apple crumble! Felt good to know that I could eat "forbidden foods" enjoy them and then "put it in a box" not feel guilty, not think that I had "blown it" and stuff my face, but to go back to my lower carb eating. Real achievement for me!0

Re: Nuts, I put a handful of nuts in a small container and keep to that amount for my snack, instead of biscuits, and keep well away from the whole packet! I have just started to reintroduce chocolate as a treat, one or two squares of dark 70% cocoa and so far, have resisted eating the whole packet.0
