So what's the point of brown sugar then if it's the same as white sugar?
Welcome onboard newbies :T
its less chemically processed so may be better for you that way, but in terms of insulin spikes its the same0 -

so that's it, I hope to never see this number again... Please can I join the 5lb a month challenge(is that about 2,5kg?)? Thanks
I see you promote steady and healthy weight loss... I am a bit of "all or nothing" personality and it's very hard for me to keep a diet...
I lost a lot in the last couple of years(39kg in 3 years, but now put back 12 of them)
but I wouldn't give it as an example to anyone(mix of diet pills, changing to healthy lifestyle for a bit then after a hard plateu I was doing a very naughty thing: juice diet on weekdays and eat what you want on weekends - it worked but my plan was to slowly switch to healthy eating on weekends and then expand it but it didn't work...)
I also tried the Dunkan(?) diet but was sick just thinking of all the protein food and didn't loose much(1kg in 10 days of attack phase)...
So taking all this into account can anyone provide any advice how to go "cold turkey" and then be able to eat healthy and keep the weight? tia
Regarding exercise I think I'm quite good... 100 squats(5x20) and 500 sit ups(5x100) every weekday, on most days an hour of brisk walk with a pushchair and at least one hour gym 3-5 times a week(light weights, crosstrainer, bike, swimming)...
I am the "hourglass" bodytype with my thighs being my nightmare...Even when I was the 12kg lighter I still couldn't stand them... However I still can't belive I was so close to my goal and wasted it all
So from now on I will try to eat as healthy as I can, exercise a lot and not even think about chocolate and bisquits... will report on Wednesday what my weight is(usually drops to the lowest on Friday but I will do Wednesdays and try not to check it everyday...) and hopefully it will be less and less to report
So thanks again everyone

The reason for promoting a sensible and healthy weight loss is two fold, crashing damages the body and leads to lean muscle loss (a bad thing), 99% of diets fail because they are unsustainable and the dieter reverts back to there old eating habits and balloons back there weight and some more. It has to be a permanent lifestyle change of healthy eating, which is also is also sustainable, slow and steady reduces the risk of lean muscle loss and reduces other problems like being hungry.
situpsthere are so many problems with them as an exercise, as a form of cardio / cal burning there very ineffective, there are far better ways to get fit / burn more cals per hour like simple jogging, there also ineffective for core training, there are far better ways to build up core strength as well. Its also impossible to target burn fat, unfortunately, your mixed gym sessions sound perfect.
finally dont forget its important for ladies to have a good % of body fat, around 30%, going less than this can cause hormonal problems
if you have to have choc go for green and blacks 70% it has fewer carbs (30%) and a big choc kick so you should need less0 -
HI, I haven't weighed myself but I doubt I've lost any weight as I've been slobbing about for a couple of weeks. Have got those body fat, etc scales but the numbers go too quick for me to tell which one is which. I'm hungry0

MIt's hard to find the balance when you are love.
You're lost in the middle cause you have to decide between mind & heart.
Heart is the engine of your body but brain is the engine of life.

ooh that must have felt good :T
well i managed a good hour's walk at a decent pace with Mr C yesterday. :j i have health problems and an hour's walk wipes me out for the rest of the day. so for that reason, i won't be joining in with your challenges for now...i'll see if i get any better first!0 -
Welcome to all newbies
Fred could you put me down for the - 5lb and Burj Jhalkfa challenge. I will aim to climb it twice using the cross trainer and treadmill set on incline.
Just ordered myself a new bike :T I have been using my daughters which is a bit small for me and has not done my dodgy knees any good at all. Really enjoying cycling at the minute. I have cleared out my porch to keep my bike in so that I have to walk past it on the way to the car. Hoping this will encourage me to use it and break the habit of using the car to just pop to the shops.

exercise 4 hours a day hard and get your diet bang on
go on a very dangerous low calorie meal replacement diet where most of your weight loss will be lean muscle, which will result in you putting on weight even faster when you stop, learn nothing about being healthy or how to keep to a good diet long term
hi Eric thanks for comment i told that i am new to weight loss i was wanting to lose weight but never tried because it seems hard for me i cant stop myself eating and my diet is also not healthy and i i got a disabled son to look after so i cant join gym thanks for letting me know that its a tough goal so i have to set my goal a bit low. your weight loss is good can you suggest me to do something which can help me....thnks£2012 in 2012 challenge £0.00/£2012---NSD15/15.0 -
Hi Czerniacha :hello: welcome to the group!
Congratulations on losing all of that weight! :T just keep reminding yourself that if you can do it once, you can do it again! Post as often as you can/need to, and maybe join a challenge or two for extra motivation - they start tomorrow! If you want to join, just let Fred know either by post or PM.
Hi Tamsila :hello:
Unfortunately I don't think you are going to be able to lose that much weight in such a small time frame. I'm hoping to lose around half that by 18th July (holiday!), and I think even that will be a struggle.
Eric is right when he says that it will take drastic measures to lose that much weight, but even then, it is a huge goal and might not be possible. Don't give up though, it all depends on how much effort you can put in exercise wise, and how strict you can be when sticking to a diet. I think a stone would be possible, possibly more - which is still an amazing loss in such a small time.
Have you decided on a diet plan? we are on all on different diets here so if you have any questions there should be someone that is able to help.
Hi lolly101

Thanks a lot for taking time to answer
I used to think I know EVERYTHING about how to loose weight(probably not but in theory I know a lot) and wonder why I can not manage myself... The problem with me is I need a good kick in the @ss and strong motivation... That's why it's easier for me to keep to a very restricted diet then just "eat healthy"(because I will then think that one bisquit or bag of crisps isn't that bad when I eat like that wheras when I know that it's strictly forbidden and I see the results quickly I won't touch it)...
I decided to kick start myself for a week on my juice diet(which is mainly tomatoe juice and home made fruit smoothies-today's was mango, natural youghurt and soya milk- and about 2 litres of water) and then carry on on low carb diet...
I also will try to exercise as much as possible(1,5 hour at the gym today)
I have no proof other then myself but I have to say I'm a big fan of situps... I do them regulary for 4 years () and I really see the results! I think my tummy is one of my best body parts and situps really help it I think...
And I hate jogging so that's not an alternative for meI know it's probably the best exercise when loosing weight but I just can't bring myself to do it ... And I promise I tried!
And of course I want to keep some of my body fatI am not a big fan of an anorectic body type and love my curves(just want them to go down a few sizes
