honey is much better0 -
Eric - do you have to use the chest band for your polar watch to pick up your heart rate or does it pick it up when you wear it as a watch?
I'm thinking of getting one but am unlikely to wear the chest band and wasn't sure how they work.
unfortunately to even get remotely accurate HR monitoring you have to wear a chest strap
you can get polar bras but there not cheap0 -
Matryoshka wrote: »That's alright then as I'm not dieting :rotfl::rotfl:Just don't want to eat too many calories if un-necessary.
From what I understand, could be totally wrong, I thought sweeteners were bad, bad, bad and some blogs even said it'd be better to eat sugar than sweeteners
its a tough one, aspartame has several worrying characteristics, the worst being that it can penetrate the blood brain barrier !!! So i avoid it like the plague.
Sucralose is a pretty old artificial sweetener and on the whole is 95% inert to the body
there is however good research that shows the the brain is not fooled by artificial sweeteners and people often over eat to compensate for the calories the brain was expecting
i personally use sucralose drinks probably 3-4 times a daybut i dont drink caffeine and find water insipid after a day or two
i drink a lot of these, there very lightly flavoured and very lightly sweetened so mostly water

very hard to achieve that goal for your size unless you do one of two things
exercise 4 hours a day hard and get your diet bang on
go on a very dangerous low calorie meal replacement diet where most of your weight loss will be lean muscle, which will result in you putting on weight even faster when you stop, learn nothing about being healthy or how to keep to a good diet long term0 -

Well, I had some serious results to be fair, at my biggest I was 110kg, and my lowest adult weight was 71kg last year(so I think 39kg is quite serious)...
Unfortunately I let myself go over the winter and feel really bad looking down at the scales now: 82kg
The biggest challenge for me is to give up on chocolate and sweets, I normally like all the healthy food but sometimes have craving for choc and just give in... silly me! I have just rejoined the gym this month and try to go 4-5 times a week, doing sit ups and squats every weekday and also quite lots of walking(an hour of brisk walk most days) and I hope it will pay out...
So I hope with all your help and support I could try to be a good girl now and finally hit my dream weight of 63kg(I'm 173cm)... I am prepared to work hard for it and will try to report back at least once a week(probably more often), any advice most welcome
Thanks a lot
Hi Czerniacha :hello: welcome to the group!
Congratulations on losing all of that weight! :T just keep reminding yourself that if you can do it once, you can do it again! Post as often as you can/need to, and maybe join a challenge or two for extra motivation - they start tomorrow! If you want to join, just let Fred know either by post or PM.misstamsilakanwal wrote: »hi everyone its tamsila here i am new to this website and also this forum i am 30 my weight is 71 kg which is about 156.5 pounds i want to lose about 24 pounds i dont know how long it will take it is my first try to weight loss because i cant eat healthy and cant work out but 19 july is my 8th wed anniversary and really want to lose weight so i will try hard and i hope with all your help i will achive my target i will report back .

Hi Tamsila :hello:
Unfortunately I don't think you are going to be able to lose that much weight in such a small time frame. I'm hoping to lose around half that by 18th July (holiday!), and I think even that will be a struggle.
Eric is right when he says that it will take drastic measures to lose that much weight, but even then, it is a huge goal and might not be possible. Don't give up though, it all depends on how much effort you can put in exercise wise, and how strict you can be when sticking to a diet. I think a stone would be possible, possibly more - which is still an amazing loss in such a small time.
Have you decided on a diet plan? we are on all on different diets here so if you have any questions there should be someone that is able to help.0 -
Ooh, I forgot to add... I haven't forgotten about the Eurovision challenge, I've been working on it and have around 17km stored on my bike (have been keeping a running total and posting when I have chance). I think that works out at around 15 miles left to do today!!! Will work it out later, and I WILL finish this challenge!
Good luck to anyone else who hasn't finished - and congratulations to anyone who has! :j0 -
Thanks about the clarification re: brown sugar. And there was me thinking that brown anything is better - brown bread, brown rice, brown pasta, brown sugar :rotfl:I'll get it right some day
So what's the point of brown sugar then if it's the same as white sugar?

thanks for taking me on board
did read some more of the thread, and did a weight in after the weekend(a naughty one) 83.3kg
(I can't get my head around how to put it in st and lb so sorry...)
so that's it, I hope to never see this number again... Please can I join the 5lb a month challenge(is that about 2,5kg?)? Thanks
I see you promote steady and healthy weight loss... I am a bit of "all or nothing" personality and it's very hard for me to keep a diet...
I lost a lot in the last couple of years(39kg in 3 years, but now put back 12 of them)
but I wouldn't give it as an example to anyone(mix of diet pills, changing to healthy lifestyle for a bit then after a hard plateu I was doing a very naughty thing: juice diet on weekdays and eat what you want on weekends - it worked but my plan was to slowly switch to healthy eating on weekends and then expand it but it didn't work...)
I also tried the Dunkan(?) diet but was sick just thinking of all the protein food and didn't loose much(1kg in 10 days of attack phase)...
So taking all this into account can anyone provide any advice how to go "cold turkey" and then be able to eat healthy and keep the weight? tia
Regarding exercise I think I'm quite good... 100 squats(5x20) and 500 sit ups(5x100) every weekday, on most days an hour of brisk walk with a pushchair and at least one hour gym 3-5 times a week(light weights, crosstrainer, bike, swimming)...
I am the "hourglass" bodytype with my thighs being my nightmare...Even when I was the 12kg lighter I still couldn't stand them... However I still can't belive I was so close to my goal and wasted it all
So from now on I will try to eat as healthy as I can, exercise a lot and not even think about chocolate and bisquits... will report on Wednesday what my weight is(usually drops to the lowest on Friday but I will do Wednesdays and try not to check it everyday...) and hopefully it will be less and less to report
So thanks again everyone0
