Fred, can you add a further 11miles to the challenge, forgot to update yesterday in time for the chart. Which means about 3 miles away from completing the challenge. Can you add a further 2 rounds to my target distance?
Congrats Betty.I know quite how you feel, I was waiting for one whole year before I got a job back in october. I was so glad as it came at the best possible time, a time when it seemed as if we were so low on money that we wouldn't have enough for our holiday this year. But so thankful it came when it did as it now means the holiday is possible (which has been booked already

Okay I've gone on food focus to log my food and despite thinking I've been good, I'm absolutely horrified!
To sum up:
Cals: 1649
Fat: 54g
Carb: 224g
Protein: 76g
And I haven't even had tea yet! If I wanted to maintain then today isn't appauling, but once I throw dinner in there the likelyhood is I'll go over a maintaining level. Thank you Eric for suggesting I log my food, I definately think I need to start planning and tracking better.
Hi Dinah93 - be careful with foodfocus, you need to make sure it's showing a sufficient amount of calories. If I put in a 2lb per week loss goal, it sets my daily calorie allowance to 507  even adding exercise on top, that is a seriously unhealthy amount. HTH0 -
I have weigh in tonight-and Im hoping for the best.Ive been ultra good this week and now that I think of it,it really wasn't hard at all.So far I have done half an hour every day on the wii steps.Im clearly doing it slowly because after 30 minutes it was something like 0.75 miles only-so on Monday I changed my pedometer to track points earned instead for low impact activity and it gave me 2 propoints each day.
My biggest loser wii disc arrived this morning so Im keen to put it on and have a look around.
Really glad to hear of your job Betty
Eric my DH is loving my diet because he bought me a bottle of "the expensive" gin the week end before I officially went back to ww,and it's barely been touched;)
Im feeling a bit duped weighing on Thursdays as I miss the list by one evening:( I know it doesnt matter but I feel it:o0 -
That's amazing Betty - what a turn around - out of the house and going to work:T:T:T. I really hope this is just the lift and new focus you were looking for.
Thanks for the chart Fred and well done efrieze:T
I am going off line for a week peeps so i won't be around. I am absolutely fine, it is just a course I am on has set us the challenge as homework to not use the internet for week... so see you on a week (eek!)I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Hello! Newbie here would like to join in if I may?
Well, where to start? Looking back at photos of myself as about 15 I see that I always thought I was fat but really wasn't then. Enforced huge activity (cycling 20 miles to work) made me thin in my early twenties. Incredibly happy marriage in 30's and 40's saw my continually gaining contentedness weight. Then the, for me devastating illness and death of my lovely husband 18 months ago saw things just get out of control. Some people stop eating with grief, I didn't. There didn't seem any point.
But I want to find a way to live well and now, at 52, find myself taking painkillers for back pain that also stops me doing things that would help distract me from the sadness. So I need to do something.
Most success I ever had was using an old SW diet booklet found at a car boot sale.
Today I went out and bought some Atkins shakes and bars but hate the artificial sweeteners used so much. The after-taste, eugh!
Love what Stephen Fr says he did, cut out bread, potatoes and sugar and walked. Seems a good plan to me so I'm going to have another go and was really pleased to see MSE site has a weight forum.
So that's me. How many times have I started a new diet only for it to last about 5 hours? Many! So who knows, but here comes another try. I'm hoping posting will help keep me going.
Best wishes to all fellow dieters.

Looking for some advice please from low carb eaters please. I have been sticking to diet not low carb and doing lots excercise and weight loss has been slow. Really need to loose 7lbs by 7th June as have an ivf meeting and need to be half a stone lighter to get bmi down. I spoke to personal trainer today and he has sent me new diet info/plan. It is paleo solution (he has told me that I have not to add any fruit for first 3 weeks). Going to give it my all for a week (if not working I will need to do Cambridge Diet, don't want to go down that route again but need to be down that 7lbs, so if cant get a loss of 3-4lbs by next week then I know I am not going to be able to do it without going on Cambridge. I am going to go out tomorrow and try and buy a book but does anyone know any good sites for recipe ideas for low carb meals. Also is there any low carb sauces etc that I can use to enahance meals.
ThanksYearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.0 -
Hi Collie I couldnt read and run (I was called Collie growing up so you tugged a string for me too),as most will say, come on and post as often as you can-sometimes the thread moves a little fast so don't feel like you have to reply to each post individually-I regularly come on and find a page or two have gone by without me.
I dont know much about either of the diets you are referring to (but someone will)-but I can relate to what you say about Mr Fry-I was diagnosed a few years ago with cyclothymia (I am taking the medication),and the first thing DH bought for me was "moab is my washpot"-Ive read it a few times and still giggle at it constantly:)0 -
Congratualations on the job Betty.
Welcome Collie - I am fairly new to the thread as well and I would say that you have come to the right place for support. So sorry to hear about your loss. I can identify with what you said about eating whilst grieving. I find any stress has me reaching for food and clearly recall sitting and eating my way through the buffet food whilst waiting for the cars to arrive for my Fathers funeral. I think Stephen Fry might have something, I have certainly begun to lose weight this month since stopping eating bread and reducing cereal and potatoes.be careful with foodfocus, you need to make sure it's showing a sufficient amount of calories. If I put in a 2lb per week loss goal, it sets my daily calorie allowance to 507
I wonder why this is goodgirl- I put in 2lb a week weight loss and Food Focus has give me a daily calorie allowance 1,700

Eric - I thought Dinah meant she was jsut drinking more. But, poo to you being negative on alcohol! Its not empty, you get a good time out of it!
Collie: You sound nice! Welcome welcome, i hope you do well and don't reach for a chocolate bar in 5 hours time!
Betty: I KNEW IT!! For whatever reason i had a good feeling about your interview, i think i even said it on here. CongratulationsCan i have some of your good luck now please!
Today i cycled to work and back for my exercise. Felt goooood. I also resisted the urge to have a mid morning snack at work (a kit kat) I had the money in my hand but went for the 3 strawberries i had in my pot! Felt good after that
Is anyone watching the Giro d'italia? Their fitness levels must be out of this world!!!0
